An epic project combines Fortnite and Wordle to create a new daily puzzle called Fortle. While one is a battle royale shooter and the other is a web-based word game, both beloved titles have captured the hearts of gamers through fun and addictive gameplay. While Wordle clones like the Destiny 2-inspired Rolldle give the game a new coat of paint, a crossover with Fortnite makes for a truly unique experience.

Launched last year, Wordle gives players six tries to guess a five-letter word. Each incorrect guess reveals which letters appear in the solution and in which position, letting players gradually piece together the correct word. The massive success of Wordle has inspired numerous other puzzle games, most of which follow a similar format, though how closely they stick to the original game varies. Titles like Marvle and Lordle follow the format exactly, except the word solutions are taken from specific sources like Marvel Comics or Lord of the Rings. The Wordle movie clone Framed, meanwhile, uses film stills instead of words and tasks the player with guessing the associated movie in only six tries.

A brand-new Wordle clone called Fortle asks players to guess five-letter words related to Epic Games' beloved shooter Fortnite. The game plays basically identically to the original Wordle, with players getting six tries to guess a five-letter word through trial and error. However, each word in Fortle is related to an item or mechanic in the battle royale classic, and the game's color scheme is changed to match the title's iconic purple and orange aesthetic. Example solutions include "stone," "forts" and "spies," though Fortnite's wide range of content creates many possible solutions.

Wordle and Fortnite combine into Fortle

While Fortle is very similar to normal Wordle, another clone of the web-based word puzzle actually borrows specific mechanics from Fortnite. The battle royale Wordle clone Squabble transforms the experience into a competitive multiplayer title, with players taking damage as their opponents solve word puzzles. While the regular single-player experience promotes patience and careful guesses, the hectic nature of Squabble means that players are advised to guess rapidly in order to defeat their rivals and survive until the end.

As the latest in a string of Wordle clones, Fortle gives battle royale fans another daily word puzzle to solve whenever they take a break from Fortnite. While a smaller pool of solutions may make the experience easier, Fortnite's long history of updates and mechanics creates plenty of solution possibilities. For fans of Epic Games' beloved shooter, Fortle may be a perfect daily activity to keep the mind sharp in-between matches.
