The English language has hundreds of words that end with "EST," and a number of them can fit into the five-letter limit of Wordle. There are plenty of options for the online word game to pick every day, and millions of players try their hand at it. Hosted by the New York Times, the goal of the game is to guess what the five-letter word of the day is within six tries, using only the hints the game gives you and maybe a handy list or dictionary of possible English words. It's a fun way to get a brief challenge into a busy day.

Wordle has a few rules for the player to keep in mind, but they're straightforward and intuitive. The correct answer is an English word with five letters, and Wordle changes it every day. The player has to find the correct answer within six guesses. For every guess, the letters of that word will flip to one of three colors. Yellow letters are present in the word of the day, but in a place different from the guess word. Gray letters are not in the word of the day at all. Green letters are in the word of the day, and they are in the same place as the guess. There's a hidden interaction from these rules that effects repeat letters, which wind up being treated as separate instances from each other. So if the word of the day is "bunny" and a player submitted "blunt" as a guess, the first n would turn gray while the second would turn green.

A lot of English words end with "EST," but most of them wind up much longer than five letters. That still leaves a number of words to choose from, and as mentioned earlier, having a list of all possible words can be useful for the player. Keep in mind, that the programmed dictionary for Wordle might not include every five-letter English word, so a few of these inputs may not be accepted.

There's no reward or achievement system in Wordle, but it does track the players' statistics. Number of games played, current winning streak, the longest winning streak, the distribution of the number of guesses it takes to get the right answer, and so on. It's a good way to track progress and just look back on performance. It's almost impossible to get a word on the first try, but Wordle will let a player improve over time and see how well they've done

    Summary:
Wordle is a web-based word-guessing game developed by Josh Wardle that took the world by storm in 2021. Players are given a five-letter word to guess and have six attempts to get the word correct. When they get a letter correct, it will mark itself as green if it's in the correct position and yellow if it is the correct letter in the wrong position. A yellow letter also means that letter could appear more than once. Wordle was purchased by The New York Times Company in 2022 and added to their website and app, keeping the core game free to play as promised - with additional words and other bonuses available through subscription, and is available via browser, iOS, and Android.
