Some members of the original cast of The Wonder Years will be guest starring on various ABC sitcoms during the premiere night of the new reboot series. The original series ran from 1988 to 1993 and was a massive hit for ABC. Many fans and critics believe it to be one of the most influential and important sitcoms in history. Some have even said that it has shaped the way that sitcoms are made today.

The Wonder Years depicts the everyday life of Kevin Arnold (played by Fred Savage), a boy in a stereotypical American suburban middle-class family from 1968 to 1973. The show covers a few years in the life of Kevin, showing how formative and important family and social relationships are for a teenager. The original series also starred Dan Lauria, Alley Mills, Josh Saviano, and Danica McKellar. The new rebooted series will follow a similar format but with some changes. It will follow a Black, middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama in the 1960s. The reboot will star Elisha “EJ” Williams, Dulé Hill, Saycon Sengbloh, Laura Kariuki, Julian Lerner, Amari O’Neil, Milan Ray, and Don Cheadle as the narrator.

The Wonder Years reboot cast

It is unknown what roles the guest stars will be playing on their respective shows. This is surely done to not spoil the surprise of seeing the actors when they appear on screen for the first time. They could be playing completely new characters made for the show, coming on for the single episodes. Another exciting idea would be if they reprised their roles played on The Wonder Years. It might be hard to manage that given the time that The Wonder Years takes place and the time frames of the other shows, but it could be fun if some of the shows found a way. Regardless, fans of the original The Wonder Years will surely be happy to see the actors return to their sitcom roots once again.

No matter how it's executed, sitcom fans are definitely in for a treat the night of these episodes. Seeing some of the original cast of The Wonder Years is sure to strike some nostalgic chords. They will also be able to check out the rebooted series the same night, which will be a fresh twist on the original's formula. The Wonder Years reboot premieres on ABC on September 22 at 8:30 pm.
