The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse makes its Disney+ debut today, coinciding with the mascot’s 92nd birthday, and we have exclusive images from series of shorts to share! The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse is a revival of the Emmy winning Mickey Mouse television series which ran from 2013 until 2019 and uses the same style and features many of the same voice actors, including Chris Diamantopoulos as the titular character. Tony Anselmo, Bill Farmer, and Tress MacNeille are also back as Donald Duck, Goofy, and Daisy, respectively. Kaitlyn Robrock will be in the role of Minnie Mouse, following the death of long-running voice actor Russi Taylor.

The revival spotlights the adventures of Mickey, in addition to Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto, as they star in seven-minute shorts which will blend together laugh-out-loud comedy, modern settings, timeless stories, and new music. The original has been watched in over 160 countries and translated in over 30 languages, racking up a slew of awards and nominations along the way. That level of success speaks to the endearing quality of Mickey and his pals, characters that many generations of viewers grew up watching. A trailer for The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse has already teased some of what viewers might expect, including a rodeo romp and an undersea adventure. New images unveil more of what’s to come as the animated series arrives on Disney+.

Along with Mickey and his cohorts, the series will include a cameo by Humphrey the Bear. Introduced in the 1950s, the character is one of Disney’s most popular supporting players. Butch the Bulldog, Pluto’s nemesis in classic cartoons, is also seen in one of the photos as Mickey casually strolls by. The revival similarly harkens back to popular shorts, such as “Three Little Pigs”, “Brave Little Tailor”, and “Steamboat Willie”. The inclusions should provide Disney+ subscribers with a hit of nostalgia, while also honoring the long history of Disney shorts which stretch back to the 1920s.

Executive producer Paul Rudish and composer Christopher Willis are clearly aware of the illustrious history involved, as the animated series will work in Pluto’s theme and the indelible song When You Wish Upon A Star.
