As part of DC's FanDome announcements, it's been revealed Wonder Woman and her family are receiving a major crossover comic event - Trial of the Amazons. The event will include all the major Amazons from recent comics, such as Hippolyta and Nubia. It has been a few decades since Wonder Woman was the center of a crossover, but Trial of the Amazons is about to change that.

DC FanDome brought a slew of announcements. From movies and games to TV shows and comics, there was a lot for DC to present. One of the biggest announcements for comic fans is Wonder Woman: Trial of the Amazons. This is going to be a "massive" crossover featuring the many Wonder Women of the DC Universe.

Wonder Woman hasn't been the center of very many crossover events, which makes this an incredible announcement. Considering it is Wonder Woman's 80th anniversary, this is the perfect time for DC to go big with her and the Wonder Family - especially since it's been expanding as of late. DC has revealed that Wonder Woman: Trial of the Amazons is coming in 2022 and will include the creative teams of each ongoing Wonder Woman related title - Becky Cloonan, Michael Conrad, Vita Ayala, Stephanie Williams, Joëlle Jones, and Jordie Bellaire. Check out the released wraparound cover (and independent art composing it) for Wonder Woman: Trial of the Amazons shared by Jen Bartel:

Becky Cloonan and Michael Conrad have been working on Wonder Woman (2016-) during the start of the Infinite Frontier era. Vita Ayala and Stephanie Williams are about to launch the new series, Nubia & the Amazons, on October 19. Joëlle Jones has spearheaded Wonder Girl, introducing Yara Flor - DC's newest Amazon. Jordie Bellaire has been working on Wonder Woman: The Adventures of Young Diana - retelling the childhood experiences of Themyscira's Amazonian princess. Each of these books has been adding a lot to Amazon lore and Wonder Woman's heroism as it spreads to new heroes - and it will all come to a head in "a power struggle that will redefine the future of all the Amazonian tribes!"

Wonder Woman has been the central focus of two major crossovers: War of the Gods (1991) and Amazons Attack! (2007). War of the Gods was well-received, though it would result in George Pérez (whose run on Wonder Woman is one of the most celebrated) separating from DC. However, like this new crossover, it was created during a major milestone for Wonder Woman - her 50th anniversary. Amazons Attack! in 2007 wasn't nearly as successful. In fact, it has been described as being one of DC's worst events and one of the worst Wonder Woman stories. Now, DC will try its hand at another Amazon-centric event, hopefully with better results.

This new Amazon era will begin with Nubia and the Amazons #1 and then pick up steam in 2022. The wraparound cover by Jen Bartel that has been revealed for the event shows Artemis, Hippolyta, Yara, Diana, and Nubia. Fans have been quick to note the absence of the other Wonder Girls: Cassie Sandsmark and Donna Troy. However, on Twitter, Becky Cloonan and Vita Ayala have promised that they haven't been left out, as there are some cards that have yet to be played. With them added into the mix, DC will truly have the full Wonder Family ready for action. DC FanDome has provided easily the biggest Wonder Woman announcement of the year and fans of the Goddess of Truth have a lot to look forward to with Wonder Woman: Trial of the Amazons.
