Wonder Woman meets Star Wars as Diana Prince wields a lightsaber in a new mash-up video. Wonder Woman without question is one of the year's most successful films, breaking several records following its smashing $100 million opening weekend in June. In addition, the Gal Gadot-led superhero blockbuster passed the $400 million mark at both the domestic and international box offices, and through Friday, the film has earned more than $820 million globally.
And while Wonder Woman was the No. 1 film at the domestic box office this summer, it will no doubt face a formidable challenger later this year when Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters December 15. In all likelihood the eighth chapter in the Skywalker family saga will mow down its challengers when all is said and done (after all, The Force Awakens grossed more than $936 million domestically). But Wonder Woman is proving in a new Star Wars mash-up video that she too can wield a lightsaber with the best of them.
In an expertly constructed fan video by YouTube user Recluse All Knight, Wonder Woman trades in her sword for a yellow lightsaber in three Star Wars-enhanced scenes from the film. The first scene features Diana (Gadot) during an intense training session with General Antiope (Robin Wright) where she's engaged in a lightsaber battle with her warrior aunt, who is equipped with a blue lightsaber. When Diana is caught off guard and loses her weapon, her Bracelets of Submission come in handy when Antiope tries to strike a blow with her Jedi weapon.
The next scene in the video shows Wonder Woman after she crosses No Man's Land and liberates a German-occupied village, but this time instead of using her God Killer sword she once again is kicking enemy butt with her yellow lightsaber. The big difference from this and her scene with Antiope, though, is that Wonder Woman is under intense fire (substituted with laser blasts, naturally), so her lightsaber, braclets and shield all come in handy.
To wrap up the video, we find Wonder Woman in her showdown with Ludendorff (Danny Huston), thinking her God Killer will rid the world of the enemy she thinks is Ares. The peculiar part of this scene is that when Ludendorff gets a hold of Wonder Woman's lightsaber, she grabs it with both of her hands as her nemesis tries to impale her with it. As powerful as the Jedi are, it's quite unlikely that any of them would try take one by the blade (demonstrating perhaps, that Wonder Woman is more powerful than them all?).
It's a fun concept that Recluse All Knight has put together with the Wonder Woman/Star Wars mash-up, and with any luck, we'll see a lot more lightsaber battles inspired by blockbuster films down the line. Wonder Woman clearly realizes the concept's full potential.
