Warning: spoilers for Wonder Woman #770

After Wonder Woman's death, she finds herself in DC's version of Asgard in Valhalla - and quickly discovers that she is the only person who can save it. With the world tree Yggdrasil sick and dying, the rules of Valhalla are changing. Normally when a warrior dies in battle they are reborn the next day, ready to fight again, but this is no longer the case. The Valkyries are disappearing as well, causing the dead souls to be lost, something that just happened to her new friend Siegfried. All of this forces Wonder Woman to easily slip right back into the role of hero.

In the pages of Wonder Woman #770, by Becky Cloonan, Michael Conrad, Tamra Bonvillain, Travis Moore, and Pat Brosseau, Diana finds herself in Valhalla and much more susceptible to death. At least here, death is not permanent, and she finds herself waking up each morning, even if she falls on the battlefield. The more she dies here, the more comfortable she becomes, and the more she forgets her life before it.

While out exploring her new home and taking in the wonder and beauty, Diana is approached by a small furry creature that resembles a squirrel named Ratatosk, who claims to need her help. She follows him through the frozen tundra to the world tree Yggdrasil, which is sick and dying. When the world tree dies, it will signify the start of Ragnarok, and the creature says that only Wonder Woman can help. Diana has been in Valhalla so long that she even questions who Wonder Woman is, before realizing he means her.

Ratatosk admits that when he heard of Diana's arrival, it gave him hope and that she is the only one who can help save Yggdrasil -- and Asgard along with her. Distracted by the battle horn, Diana runs off, and dies, yet again. But this time when she awakens she cannot find her new friend Siegfried, and she goes out looking. When she does find him she discovers that the world tree is not the only problem in Asgard, as the Valkyries are disappearing as well. Meant to lead the souls of fallen warriors off the battlefield and back to Valhalla, the lack of them means that souls are being lost -- Siegfried's included.

With no other choice, Diana steps up to the role of hero, yet again, and takes the fate of Asgard into her hands. She must find a way to heal Yggdrasil and stop Ragnarok, as well as bring the Valkyries back so no more souls are lost. Her memories as Wonder Woman are fading fast and will likely make this a hard task to accomplish, but old habits die hard, and if anyone can accomplish the task, it is Diana. Wonder Woman #770 is available in stores and online now.
