Warning: contains spoilers for DC Vs. Vampires #6

In a brand new variant cover art for the next issue of DC vs. Vampires, Wonder Woman adopts a horrifying new vampire form. Wonder Woman was first turned into a vampire in DC vs. Vampires #3 when a vampiric Green Lantern uses hypnosis to render the Amazonian defenseless for the inevitable. Since then, the two vamps have conspired together to initiate a worldwide vampire takeover.

Their plan for a takeover is virtually complete at this point, albeit with Green Lantern now dead. More importantly, with most of the remaining members of the Justice League either dead or turned into vampires, with the current vampire population outnumbering the few surviving heroes still alive. DC vs. Vampires #6 ends with Nightwing (The Lord of the Vampires) and Wonder Woman overlooking a world turned ablaze with fire and vampires, a world that simultaneously has turned into an oyster for the victors.  That was the last image that readers saw before the mini-series went on a brief hiatus last April.

Now, the series is preparing to return for its second half, with DC vs. Vampires #8 by James Tynion IV, Matthew Rosenberg, and Otto Schmidt releasing on August 2nd, 2022. Beyond the main cover and two variants provided by League of Comic Geeks, not much is known about its contents going into this issue. Although, this variant cover by John Giang depicting a bloodcurdlingly deformed Wonder Woman is interesting enough to raise a few eyebrows. In addition to the Wonder Woman cover there was also a variant cover depicting Batgirl wielding twin crossbows.

In the variant cover art, Diana of Themyscira is virtually unrecognizable in her most terrifying form. Terror is not a trait that is typically associated with Wonder Woman, but this is certainly the scariest depiction of Wonder Woman to ever be crafted in this or any medium, without a doubt. This artwork takes an idea that is already present throughout the series - take one of the three strongest members of the Justice League and make them into an undead rival - and then turn that idea up to 11.

The underlying menace and unsettling nuances in Wonder Woman's vampiric depiction throughout the series thus far ever since the third issue has remained more subtle than anything else up until this point. This variant cover, however, turns that covert menace into something not only overt, but far more terrifying in execution. If Wonder Woman goes through such a transformation in this series, then she will undoubtedly become an even bigger threat than she already is.
