Wonder Woman is one of the most iconic characters of all time. Since her debut in 1941, the character has gone on to star in several TV shows and animated movies, as well as her own live-action movie with 2017's Wonder WomanDespite the fact that she is one of the most well-known and easily recognizable comic book characters of all time, Wonder Woman's power set is often difficult to describe.

Largely because her powers and abilities vary between the iterations of the character, with her abilities changing depending upon the era in which the character is written. This article will list 10 powers (including flight) that you never knew Wonder Woman possessed.

Flight

Wonder Woman Flying

This power may be more well known than others on this list due to the fact that it was a clear power of Wonder Woman's during the Justice League series of the early 2000s. That being said, not every version of the Wonder Woman character possesses the ability to fly.

For instance, while some versions of the character are innately able to fly, the New 52 version could only do so after being struck with a feather from Hermes. The invisible jet is a clear indicator of the fact that Wonder Woman sometimes needs to rely on more conventional means of air transport.

Electrokinesis

This one may certainly be a surprise to some, but her ability to control electricity is hinted at in the trailer to Wonder Woman 1984, with the character using her Lasso of Truth to swing between bolts of lightning, in a similar manner to how Spider-Man swings between buildings, as a means of transportation.

While the ability to control electricity is certainly an impressive and cool power and, at least in the movie canon, is almost certainly connected to her connection to Zeus. In the New 52 canon, Wonder Woman is able to craft weapons from lightning bolts.

Capable Of Speaking Every Language

One of Wonder Woman's most useful abilities that don't improve her chances of beating an enemy to a pulp is her ability to speak any language. While this allows her to speak to Spaniards or French people with ease, it also allows her to speak to Cavemen and even Martians.

Despite the fact that this power was toned down in the post-crisis continuity to only be over a dozen languages, it is still an impressive ability. While this may not be the coolest power on the list, it is certainly one of the most practical and most useful. Who wouldn't want the ability to speak any language?

Healing Factor

Wonder Woman's ability to heal when touching the Earth

In a similar manner to Wolverine and Deadpool, Wonder Woman also has the ability to heal herself to a super-human degree. This ability is connected to Demeter, the Greek goddess of the harvest, who gave Wonder Woman powers that draw from the Earth itself.

As a result, Wonder Woman is able to rapidly heal herself of almost any injury as long as she is in contact with the Earth. In some cases of extreme damage, Wonder Woman is also capable of merging with the Earth in order to heal herself.

Communicate With Animals

In a similar manner to Wonder Woman's multi-lingual abilities, Wonder Woman is also capable of communicating with animals. This power was bestowed upon Wonder Woman by Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, and even allows Wonder Woman to communicate with dinosaurs.

The ability to communicate directly with animals is a fantastic ability to have, especially for pet owners. Perhaps we'll see a Doctor Doolittle-esque movie for Wonder Woman soon.

Astral Projection

In a similar manner to Doctor Strange, Wonder Woman is able to astrally project herself across vast planes and even into mythical lands and worlds. While her physical body remains, it is still damaged by whatever damages her in the astral plane, leading to cuts and bruises if she isn't careful.

Additionally, Wonder Woman has the ability to leave the planet if she meditates intensely enough. Wonder Woman proved this when she rescued Artemis from the pits of Hell.

SuperSpeed

This ability is seen in Justice League and Wonder Woman, but it isn't really shown to its full potential. While Wonder Woman isn't as fast as the Flash or Superman, she is still incredibly fast and is more than capable of using her speed to dodge bullets, projectiles, and punches.

It is said that Wonder Woman is able to move at half the speed of light, which is certainly impressive. This power was gifted to Wonder Woman by Hermes, the messenger god.

Resistant To Fire

In addition to possessing the ability to control electricity in a similar manner to Zeus, Wonder Woman also has some control over fire. Hestia, the goddess of the hearth, gave Wonder Woman the Fires of Truth power, which Wonder Woman uses through her Lasso of Truth.

In addition, Hestia's gift to Wonder Woman also makes her incredibly resistant to fire. This resistance operates the same for both supernatural and natural fire.

Super Hearing

While eavesdropping isn't always a morally respectable talent to possess, it is clear that, like Superman, Wonder Woman will use her superhuman hearing ability for good rather than out of nosiness. This super hearing ability will allow Wonder Woman to hear cries for help or villainous deeds from miles away.

As with the ability to communicate with animals, this ability was given to Wonder Woman by the goddess of the hunt, Artemis. The fact that the goddess of the hunt gave this power to Wonder Woman highlights how useful it is in combat situations.

Telepathy

The pre-crisis version of Wonder Woman had a vast array of different psychic powers. While astral projection has already been covered in this list, another of her psychic powers was telepathy. This allowed the Amazonian heroine to communicate with other individuals from great distances or in secret.

Her telepathic powers were the result of the Amazonian training that Wonder Woman received on the island of Themyscira. In addition to telepathy, this training also left her with fantastic scientific and academic knowledge, as well as leadership and combat skills.
