Tiffany Haddish expresses interest in joining the Wonder Woman film series. The character Diana Prince aka. Wonder Woman has been around since the '40s, but didn't join the DC Extended Universe until Gal Gadot appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. She then returned for her first solo film, followed by Justice League, and the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984.
While superhero movies have been incredibly successful in the past decade, Haddish's career has also been booming. She has appeared in films like Keanu and Girl's Trip, as well as won a Primetime Emmy Award for her appearance on Saturday Night Live in 2018. More recently, the actress has voiced Daisy in The Secret Life of Pets 2 as well as played Ruby O'Carroll in The Kitchen. The Kitchen was based on a 2015 comic book by Ollie Masters, but now the actress is setting her sights on a more heroic comic book role.
After The Kitchen director Andrea Berloff expressed interest in making a Batgirl movie for DC, Yahoo! asked Haddish if she would be up for the leading role. While Batgirl didn't seem to interest Haddish, she did reveal that she'd be up for playing Wonder Woman's sister named Nubia. She also showed interest in the character Mystery Girl from the 2015 comic book from Dark Horse.
While Haddish won't be apart of Wonder Woman 1984, there are a lot of new actors being added to the Wonder Woman franchise. Pedro Pascal has been cast in the film (possibly as Maxwell Lord) and Kristen Wiig will be playing the villain Cheetah. Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde and Natasha Rothwell have also all been added to the cast, but their roles are still a mystery. As for returning cast members Gadot, Chris Pine, and Robin Wright have all been confirmed for the sequel, with Patty Jenkins directing.
Since Wonder Woman 1984 is still a little less than a year away, it's a bit too early to start thinking about Wonder Woman 3. That being said, if the sequel does well at the box office and with critics, a third film is almost a guarantee since the 2017 Wonder Woman also performed incredibly well. With Haddish's current popularity, many people would be thrilled to see her take on the role, while others might be concerned since she has primarily done comedy for her career. That being said, Wiig is known for her comedic roles and she is taking on one of Wonder Woman's most iconic foes. Despite fans' opinions of Haddish in a Wonder Woman sequel, all of this is purely a fantasy casting at this point.
