A cosplayer's beautiful rendition of DC's Nubia Wonder Women comes to life in a stunning new picture. Nubia's family heritage plays an important role in the Wonder Women comics but this time her story's receiving an all-new focus in a brand new series.

In celebration of Wonder Women's 80th anniversary, Nubia and The Amazons #1 written by Vita Ayala and Stephanie Williams, with artist Alitha Martinez releases October 5th and follows Nubia's rise as Queen of Themyscira. First introduced in 1973's Wonder Woman #204 as the twin sister of Diana, made from black clay. Nubia has since gone through many iterations throughout DC but more so in Infinite Frontier, Rebirth, and Future State: Immortal Wonder Woman as the role of Wonder Woman or Queen of Themyscira. The popular YA graphic novel Nubia: Real One from L.L Mckinney and artist Robyn Smith, follows a young teenage Nubia learning to handle her Amazonia strength while overcoming adversities that society has assumed her to be. Nubia's representation in comics has become an important character in DC and one that many cosplayers enjoy embodying.

Cosplayer Jasmine James aka Cutiepiesensei created a fierce cosplay of Nubia's Wonder Women that she displayed in a post on her Instagram. Jasmine's known for her many viral cosplays from Wonder Woman (Diana), Starfire, Black Panther (Shuri), Captain Marvel, and more. The cosplayer even jokingly trolled her followers into thinking she was starring as Nubia in the next Wonder Woman film but then later told that she actually shot her gorgeous cosplay in Italy where the film was shot. The post also shows Jasmines' concept art for the Amazonian princess along with the character's many designs from previous DC  issues as references. The cosplay itself may look similar to Diana's costume but the amazing details from Nubia's various Amazonian outfits and Wonder Women costumes show that it's not.

The left shoulder blade armor with the lion crest as seen on Nubia in the premiere cover of Nubia and The Amazons #1 is presented on the cosplay along with other detailing inspirations from Infinite Frontier can be spotted through the handmade costume. With her Nubia cosplay reaching over 56k likes on Instagram, Jasmine wanted to bring to the attention of people's misreference of her as Nubia in her previous Diana Wonder Women cosplay from the film. She enclosed in the post that "The only similarity was that I'm black I wanted to be very specific whenever I decided to cosplay her (Nubia), and finally found the perfect opportunity!". This is a reoccurring issue that many Black cosplayers, unfortunately, face in the cosplay community but Jasmine's rendition of Nubia was not only gorgeous but as a cosplayer, she handled the situation just as dignified and forthcoming as the future Amazonian Queen.

Nubia's spotlight in comics might have been slighted in the beginning but now with the upcoming  Nubia and The Amazons, the focus can now be centered on the character as a whole. The two gorgeous DC variant covers drawn by artists Joshua Swaby and Maika Sozo have also made quite the impression on the Queen-to-be. As with the series and Jasmine's striking cosplay, Nubia's presence as Queen and Wonder Woman will definitely be felt throughout the DC Universe and to future cosplayers everywhere.
