Much to the surprise of gamers, a brand-new Wonder Woman game was announced during The Game Awards 2021. This will be the DC hero's first solo outing in a game and it should be a rather promising first attempt as the developers of Shadow of Mordor are behind this game. As this is the first Wonder Woman game, it's possible Warner Bros. could be building to a Justice League game, but there's no telling as of right now.

In 2022, Wonder Woman will appear in Rocksteady's Suicide Squad game. Interestingly enough, she doesn't appear to be a villain like the other DC heroes appearing in the game. Whether or not she survives Rocksteady's next game remains to be seen, but if she does, it's possible that they'll be connected. If they are, Monolith's upcoming Wonder Woman game will be in the Batman: Arkham universe. That said, it'll likely be a while before fans find out.

The new Wonder Woman trailer (via GameSpot) only gives a slight tease of what's to come, but it's an exciting confirmation of what's to come. There's currently no release date for the new game, but it's possible more will be revealed in 2022. With the exception of Superman, each of DC's trinity of heroes has gotten a modern-day game. Whether or not a new Superman game will see the light of day to complete the trinity is something fans will likely have to wait quite a while for.

There is high demand for a Justice League game, but it's unclear if it'll ever actually happen. It's possible Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is setting up a proper game for DC's heroes, but that all depends on if those heroes actually survive. Either way, Wonder Woman getting her own solo game is an exciting prospect. Following the success of her two films, it only makes sense to make a game.

It's an exciting time to be a gamer that loves superheroes. With DC venturing beyond Batman for its games, Marvel making new Spider-Man and Wolverine games, and more, superheroes are actually starting to get good game adaptations. The new Suicide Squad gameplay trailer certainly tees up an exciting DC universe that's ripe for exploration, but with Gotham Knights taking place in a different universe, it's unclear how committed Warner Bros is to making a continuous DC gaming universe. It's unlikely Wonder Woman will be an adaptation of the films, but Warner Bros has yet to say otherwise.
