DC Comics just announced a new series that will see Wonder Woman deciding the fate of humanity! The upcoming limited series is titled Wonder Woman: Evolution and is being written by Stephanie Phillips, who is best known for writing Harley Quinn, with art by Deadpool artist Mike Hawthorne. DC's new Wonder Woman limited series will run for a total of eight issues.

This news comes after two new Wonder Woman based series were announced for Wonder Woman's anniversary month of October. Those series are Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons and Nubia and the Amazons. It's clear that DC is going all in when it comes to building on its already-established Wonder Woman IP. Wonder Woman: Evolution will follow Diana Prince, as opposed to the other two new projects which will follow Hippolyta and Nubia. Phillips is no stranger to Wonder Woman as she just wrote a short in DC's Sensational Wonder Woman, but here, she will be given free reign to explore her own unique story about Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman: Evolution will see Diana stepping up to protect Earth from cosmic intruders. These so-called entities are described as "god-like" beings who "act as arbiters" of the universe. According to Phillips, in an interview with Newsarama, it's their job to keep the universe's planets in check. It seems that Earth takes a step in the wrong direction as the cosmic entities intervene because they see Earth as a threat. The main cause of Earth becoming a threat is unknown, but it probably has something to do with DC's heroes and villains. Out of all of the universe's planets, Wonder Woman's home planet is the target for many attacks. There is also the fact that it breeds many powerful heroes. Perhaps, the growing forces of Earth will be seen as a threat if they were to ever leave the planet.

Wonder Woman will be heading out into space to help decide the fate of Earth. It seems the cosmic beings are old school in the way that they judge planets, as Wonder Woman is forced to enter a cosmic trial. This trial will not take place in a courtroom, but on the battlefield! She will be judged through a series of physical and mental challenges. As seen in the preview pages, Wonder Woman fights a horde of deadly aliens. This version of Wonder Woman holds nothing back as she brutally chops through her assailants with an axe.

Wonder Woman will have the entire planet on her shoulders as she fights for Earth's freedom. The aliens shown in the sketched preview pages are different from the issue's variant cover attacker who fights Wonder Woman. It's evident that DC's cosmic watchers of the universe have lots of challenging foes that they will throw at Wonder Woman. What a great time to be a Wonder Woman fan! Wonder Woman: Evolution is part of DC Comics' celebration of Wonder Woman and will release in November.
