Wonder Woman's future daughter, Trinity, makes her debut in the milestone issue Wonder Woman #800, giving readers a glimpse of the Justice League of the future before the story returns to the present in the upcoming first issue of the new Wonder Woman series, launching in September 2023 as part of the "Dawn of DC" initiative.

Wonder Woman #800 will feature the conclusion to the "Whatever Happened to the Warrior of Truth?" storyline from writers Becky Cloonan and Michael W. Conrad, but an exclusive story from IGN reveals that the issue will also include a special story by Tom King and Daniel Sampere, which takes place in the future and serves to set up the upcoming Wonder Woman #1. In the story, Diana's daughter Trinity makes her debut in the DC Universe, asking for the help of some of her fellow Justice Leaguers to meet a mysterious man who knows the truth about the tragic events that took place in Trinity's past, which will be told in Wonder Woman #1. Trinity's gorgeous design shines in this artwork by Daniel Sampere, which will also be an alternate cover for Wonder Woman #800.

Wonder Woman's Future Daughter Trinity Makes Her Debut In DC Comics

Wonder Woman future daughter Trinity in Wonder Woman 800 cover

The solicited synopsis released by DC Comics for Tom King's upcoming Wonder Woman #1 revealed that life is about to take a turn for the worse for Diana and her kind. After a mysterious Amazonian carries out a massacre on American soil, the U.S. Congress passes The Amazon Safety Act, barring all Amazons from the country. To enforce the law, the government sets up the Amazon Extradition Entity (AXE) task force to remove those who don’t comply by any means necessary. Wonder Woman now finds herself an outlaw, with a good part of the country turning against her. While tensions keep rising, Diana will search for the truth behind the massacre. These events are told to Trinity in the future from the perspective of the mysterious man who was deeply involved in that crisis.

In recent years, DC Comics has put a lot of focus on the new generations of heroes, with characters such as Jon Kent and Damian Wayne taking the spotlight. A true successor of Diana, however, still had to be revealed. Yara Flor is another future Wonder Woman, who made her debut during the Future State storyline, but she has no relation to Trinity, who instead appears to be the biological daughter of Diana. Yara's Brazilian heritage and her connection to the lost Amazon tribe make her a wholly different and original character, but it's a shame that she will probably be overshadowed by the debut of Trinity. It will be interesting to see how and when Trinity will make her debut in the present continuity of the DC Universe, and what role she will play in it.

Trinity Could Be The Key To Revitalize The Wonder Woman Franchise

With Trinity making her debut, every member of DC's original "Trinity" (Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman) now has a successor, and the comics will have to balance the drive to develop these characters with the fear of disappointing fans of their classic versions. The Super-Family has been the focus of "Dawn of DC" until now, so it's great to see the Amazons get their chance to shine with an upcoming new Wonder Woman series and the debut of Diana's daughter, Trinity, who could finally help revitalize the franchise.

Wonder Woman #800 will be available from DC Comics from June 20, while Wonder Woman #1 will hit stands on September 5, 2023.
