Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is gushing over how a cosplayer dressed up as her at a fan convention this weekend. The past year has been amazing for Jenkins, whose superhero blockbuster Wonder Woman took the world by storm when it released last summer. The DCEU's origin story for Amazon princess was a landmark film in many respects, beginning with its opening weekend in June 2017, in which it earned more than $100 million domestically and set the record for the biggest opening ever for a female director.

The title role also transformed Gal Gadot into an international superstar, inspiring female empowerment in girls and women of all ages across the globe. Not surprisingly, cosplayers in Wonder Woman's signature superhero armor started popping up at conventions everywhere, but now, a fan is taking her love of the film and Jenkins' acclaimed direction to the next level.

While many people cosplay as Wonder Woman, cosplayer Jessi Chartier dressed up as Patty Jenkins at C2E2 this weekend. Chartier revealed her costume on Twitter (below), saying: "I mean, I love @GalGadot and all, but I cosplayed as MY hero, @PattyJenks," to which Jenkins responded (below), "Well, now you are my hero. Love it!!!" Also, in response to a David Chartier tweet with the same photos, Jenkins said, "Okay, this is completely hysterical and insane. My entire WW crew and I just laughed SO hard at this. Nice @JessiChartier. What a compliment!!! Thank you." Take a look:

Naturally, cosplaying as Jenkins provided a lot of great photo opportunities for Chartier at the convention, where she posed for photos with both female and male Wonder Woman cosplayers, as well as another dressed up as Gadot's Diana Prince when she first arrived in London. In another photo, Chartier is seen as Jenkins "directing" two cosplayers dressed as Queen Hippolyta and General Antiope.

The great thing for Chartier is, she closely resembles Jenkins, so surely she'll be able to cosplay as the filmmaker at many more conventions in the future, especially since it's practically guaranteed for there to be Wonder Woman cosplayers at every major fan expo and convention in the world. One thing's for certain, the "Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins" costume won't go out of style anytime soon, since Jenkins is also at the helm of Wonder Woman 2set to release in November 2019.

With any luck, Chartier's portrayal of Jenkins won't become a novelty but inspire other cosplayers to dress up as their favorite filmmakers as well, not just Jenkins. Of course, Star Wars fans are already used to seeing several people cosplay as George Lucas - but there are plenty more filmmakers out there. People can also go the vintage route, a la Alfred Hitchcock or Orson Welles, but those cosplays most likely won't be ready before their time.
