Warning! Spoilers ahead for DC vs Vampires #5

In the latest issue of DC Comics' DC vs Vampires, Wonder Woman confirms that Batman would be the best vampire in the DC Universe. Aside from fangs, a thirst for blood, and an aversion to vitamin D, the Dark Knight does fit the criteria for a classic vampire. As such, the irony that he's one of the few heroes still resisting the growing horde of the undead in DC vs Vampires is pretty entertaining (and quite epic).

In previous issues of DC vs Vampires from James Tynion IV, Matthew Rosenberg, Otto Schmidt, and Simone Di Meo, supervillains and superheroes alike are either being killed by vampires or have been bitten, joining the vampire revolution that's risen in this alternate reality. Having already turned some of the most powerful heroes such as Green Lantern and Wonder Woman, the Justice League has been compromised. That being said, Batman and Green Arrow were ahead of the curve and have taken steps to prepare their families to fight the vampires with lethal force.

Unfortunately, that hasn't stopped the secret vampires Green Lantern and Wonder Woman from convincing the rest of the League that Batman is the one who's been bitten (an easy assumption to make). Being a nocturnal vigilante who already dresses up like a bat and moves in the shadows, Bruce Wayne is naturally a prime candidate to be turned into a vampire. Likewise, a vampiric Wonder Woman says as much in DC vs. Vampires #5 after the Dark Knight refuses to join her and Hal.

Wonder-Woman-Batman-Amazing-Vampire

Batman becoming one of the first vampires would have certainly been an expected plot point for DC vs Vampires. Instead, he's been positioned as the primary hero resisting the hordes of monsters while also being the most prepared to kill those he once called friends. As such, Batman's role is arguably much better than it would have been for this story just like Green Lantern being a vampire is such a great twist (considering his light-based powers).

That being said, DC vs Vampires hasn't yet hit its halfway point which means there's still plenty of time for Batman to get his fangs by the series' end. However, having him as the primary hero against the vampires has been a great move seeing as how he should be the perfect vampire. While Wonder Woman and more corrupted heroes will no doubt continue their efforts to try and bite Batman, it's clearly going to take quite a lot to stop the Dark Knight after he and Green Arrow held their own against the entire Justice League in this new issue.
