DC Comics has been teasing a new Dark Nights: Metal event for a while now and on Wednesday, we got our first look at the popular series' upcoming sequel series. Scott Snyder teased the upcoming encore book on Twitter, posting a picture of a chainsword wielding Wonder Woman.

The original Dark Nights: Metal event by Snyder and Greg Capullo was published from June 2017, to March 2018. The comic brought DC's mightiest heroes against their dark multiverse counterparts and the dark god Barbatos who wanted to turn their universe into pure darkness. The two multiverses were connected through Nth metal. The event was followed with several new lines including New Justice, The New Age of DC Heroes, Year of the Villain, and Tales of the Dark Multiverse. The story birthed the villainous Batman Who Laughs, who was named 2019's Villain of the Year after starring in multiple titles including his own miniseries.

There haven't been many details dropped for the upcoming series, but Snyder and Capullo have continually teased the encore of Metal on social media. The first glimpse does not disappoint. Snyder tweeted out an image of a swordchain wielding Wonder Woman with the caption "it's all been building to this." The image is metal as hell. Wonder Woman is rocking somewhat of a prehistoric look with modern features. The coolest thing on display is her "chainsaw of truth" which is a mix of her iconic Lasso of Truth, a futuristic chainsaw, and a sword. Good luck taking on Wonder Woman with that beastly weapon in her arsenal.

Wonder Woman Metal Encore

Few creative teams in comics work better together than Snyder and Capullo. The two collaborators have worked together since DC's The New 52 on their critically acclaimed take on Batman. The two most recently collaborated on the DC Black Label miniseries Batman: Last Knight on Earth. If there's one thing that's guaranteed when the two work together, it's that their work won't be boring - especially on their more epic events like what preceded this new Metal book.

The currently unnamed project will put a cap on Snyder and Capullo's Dark Nights: Metal series. Is Wonder Woman going to lead this new book? Will Batman and the rest of the gang show up? That's unclear. But, the fact the new series was announced is exciting news for DC Comics and fans of the two talented creators.
