The Wonder Woman Blu-ray will include a bonus scene featuring an offshoot mission for Etta Candy (Lucy Davis). The DC Extended Universe film, featuring Gal Gadot as the Amazonian superhero Diana, is this summer's biggest blockbuster and has grossed $795 million worldwide so far. Domestically, it's now one of the films to have made $400 million and has become the highest grossing live-action film helmed by a single female director. Furthermore, it has also helped push the DCEU past $3 billion at the global box office.
Well received both commercially and critically, it is no surprise that a lot of people are looking forward to watching Wonder Woman from the comfort of their homes, on Blu-ray. The Blu-ray release date has now been confirmed, with Wonder Woman being set for digital release on Tuesday, August 29, followed by its DVD/Blu-ray release on Tuesday, September 19. The Blu-ray version of Wonder Woman will come with a lot of new features, like commentaries and even a gag reel - and even a secret mission for Steve Trevor's (Chris Pine) trusted assistant Etta, as it turns out.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced that a never-before-seen clip will be included as part of the Wonder Woman Blu-ray. The special epilogue, which is titled “Epilogue: Etta’s Mission", will see the secretary assemble "the boys back together for a secret mission that could impact humanity’s future.” At this point, no additional information has been said regarding the short narrative - but given Etta's quirky and jovial nature, her world-saving adventure should be nothing short of entertaining.
With this, it seems like the DCEU and Warner Bros are doing their own version of Marvel One-Shots - that is, direct-to-video shorts that are tagged on the main film, but do not necessarily have a huge impact on the larger franchise. This could be a great addition to the bevy of other bonus features included in the Wonder Woman Blu-ray, like interviews with the film's production team.
The Blu-ray's featurettes will dive deep into the development of Wonder Woman, with director Patty Jenkins' “A Director’s Vision” broken down into five installments that will showcase the world building and narrative-progression for the film. Other exclusive Blu-ray featurettes will further immerse viewers in the secret land of Themyscira and the World War I backdrop include “Warriors of Wonder Woman”, “The Wonder Behind The Camera”, and “Finding The Wonder Woman Within".
Wonder Woman's Home Entertainment release will come in various formats, in order to suit everyone's different preference. The options include the Ultra HD Blu-ray (with Blu-ray discs in both 4K with HDR and regular Blu-ray definition) and Blu-ray 3D combo pack (choice between 3D high-definition or standard high-def.), which will cost $44.95. The standard Blu-ray combo pack and DVD, on the other hand, will sell for $35.99 and $28.98 respectively.
