In honor of its fourth anniversary, Gal Gadot has reminisced on the success of the original Wonder Woman film while also teasing Wonder Woman 3. While the DC Extended Universe struggled to find its footing during its early years, the 2017 Patty Jenkins film was an instant hit with both critics and moviegoers. Given this, a sequel was greenlit shortly after with Wonder Woman 1984, which was delayed a few times before finally releasing in December 2020.

Admittedly, the follow-up film wasn't as well-received as its predecessor, but was successful enough to warrant another movie. Warner Bros. remains confident with Jenkins and Gadot's partnership that both are now locked in for Wonder Woman 3. At this point, not much is known about the project as it doesn't even have a release date yet. However, it's coming eventually, and the end of Wonder Woman 1984 is a great jumping off point for its story. In anticipation of the upcoming movie, Gadot has now looked back on her journey as the superhero.

Taking to her official Twitter account, the actress evoked nostalgia, saying that Wonder Woman changed her life. Gadot also expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to bring a feminist icon to life and promised that she'll "do everything to keep and tell Wonder Woman’s story in the best way possible." She ended the post with the Wonder Woman 3 hashtag, while sharing the final modern sequence of the original movie. Check out her tweet below:

Since the first two Wonder W0man films were period pieces, there's an assumption that Wonder Woman 3 will finally be set in the modern era — perhaps even after Diana Prince's stint in Justice League. Considering the ever-changing DCEU plans, the Amazonian Goddess will be the first hero in the franchise to have a full trilogy of films. It's uncertain whether or not her story will continue beyond the threequel, but considering how popular the character is, Warner Bros. may be keen to continue her narrative. If anything, Jenkins previously said that she already has an idea for Wonder Woman 4.

Looking at Warner Bros.' DC Films slate, the earliest Wonder Woman 3 will hit theaters is 2023. Following Wonder Woman 1984's hybrid release, primarily due to the coronavirus pandemic, Wonder Woman 3 is promised to have a traditional theatrical run. Based on Gadot's tweet, it sounds like she's committed to bringing the franchise to a satisfying conclusion, if it does in fact end with the third movie. Hopefully, those who have enjoyed following Wonder Woman's story since the original film are pleased with the ending.
