Despite the mixed reception of Wonder Woman 1984, Patty Jenkins is slotted to return for a third film starring Gal Gadot. Many agree that this third film should not be another prequel. Fans want to see Wonder Woman in a post-Justice League world with plenty of potential villains.

The DC Extended Universe has focused on solo adventures for a while and has done them well. However, it renders a shared universe pointless if the heroes never have any crossovers; it doesn't have to be a giant ensemble of heroes but just two heroes a la The Brave And The Bold. There are plenty of heroes to choose from.

Yes: Shazam

Since Diana is the daughter of Zeus and Shazam harnesses the power of multiple Greek gods and legends, it would make sense for these two to have some interaction in the future. Plus, the ending of the Shazam movie did set up the character to join the Justice League.

If Hades or Genocide were to be introduced as villains, Diana would need help. As a bonus, the banter between Zachary Levi's Shazam and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman would likely be a highlight of the film.

No: Black Canary

Birds of Prey Black Canary fight scene

Harley Quinn: Birds Of Prey did a solid job of establishing the character of Black Canary. Jurnee Smollett nailed bringing Dinah Lance to life while providing her own flavor. However, the biggest problem was that she was mostly a supporting cast member.

Black Canary deserves to be the lead in either her own film, a Green Arrow project, or a Birds Of Prey sequel. However, Black Canary and Wonder Woman as a team would make for a fun crossover. It's just that there are much better choices out there.

Yes: Artemis of Bana-Mighdall

Artemis of Bana-Mighdall - DC Comics

No, not Artemis Crock and not the Greek goddess. The third Artemis is a fellow Amazon of a different tribe. She is considered the best warrior of her tribe, meeting Diana when the Princess came to her village on the search for Cheetah. It's likely that Cheetah will return at some point, trying to regain her power.

Artemis could join Diana on her adventure, especially if the movie introduces villains like Circe. Patty Jenkins has done an exquisite job at making the Amazons into a standout. Having a fellow Amazon at her side seems ideal.

No: Mera

Amber Heard's Mera

When the Aquaman movie by James Wan was released, everyone loved the character of Mera. She was capable, funny, and proved to be just as much of a superhero as Arthur. In many ways, this is a character that would work well - Atlanteans have a certain amount in common with Thymescirans, and these two warrior women would potentially become a great pair.

However, there are some problems with this potential appearance. For one, after only one Aquaman film (and a brief Justice League appearance) the character would need much more development before this kind of team-up. She's not quite ready to step out of her own movie universe into Wonder Woman's.

Another (potentially bigger) issue with a Mera appearance is the fans' reception as Amber Heard's very public court case with Johnny Depp has led to a huge amount of fan backlash - with many even calling for her to be replaced in the DCEU.

Yes: Aquaman

Momoa Aquaman

With Arthur Curry now on the throne, he must maintain a healthy truce between Atlantis and the Amazons. In 2017's Justice League, there was dialogue that said that Amazons and Atlanteans used to go to war with each other. That alone could make for an interesting premise in which Arthur and Diana must work together to keep the peace.

Add a villain like Black Manta or an updated Sharkeeta to disrupt the peace. Arthur and Diana's chemistry in the 2017 Justice League was already a highlight of that flawed version. More than likely fan would rush to see the two team-up since Jason Momoa has proven to be a perfect Aquaman.

No: Harley Quinn

Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn Mayling Ng as Mongal The Suicide Squad

Margot Robbie is to Harley Quinn like Gal Gadot is to Wonder Woman. Both are perfect for their respective characters and probably would make for an entertaining crossover. However, just because both characters and actresses are popular, it does not warrant a forced crossover.

Harley and Diana really don't fit in the same adventure together. Harley's foes are a mild inconvenience for Diana and most of Diana's villains would blink and kill Harley. Harley should be saved for her own films, a Batman project, or another Suicide Squad film.

Yes: Superman

Many DC fans agree that Henry Cavill is being treated poorly by Warner Bros. His Superman deserves more movies and should be the Iron Man of the DCEU. While most would prefer he get his own movie first, nobody would say no to him and Wonder Woman teaming up.

They already worked together quite well in the battle against Doomsday. There are a plethora of villains to choose from; Giganta, Genocide, Silver Swan, Parasite, Metallo, etc. Seeing Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot together will be enough to fill seats.

No: The Flash

The Flash Wonder Womans Sword

Similar to Black Canary, Ezra Miller's The Flash would more than likely make for an entertaining crossover. However, The Flash deserves to get more time on his own; even his upcoming movie is said to be guest-starring multiple Batmen and other DC characters.

So while Gal Gadot and Ezra Miller would probably carry a crossover without an issue, it's just not needed. Save their crossover for another Justice League movie.

Yes: Zatanna

young justice zatanna zatara

There's always room for more in the Justice League. With Zatanna, not only would it make for a perfect crossover but she would add more members to the Justice League. With Cheetah still alive, she is going to find something or someone who can give her back those powers.

The perfect villain for that would be the evil sorceress Circe. Circe proves to be too deadly even for Diana so that's where she needs help from Zatanna. Zatanna Zatara is one of the DC universe's greatest magicians and has helped against Circe before. While Zatanna fights Circe, Diana battles with her rival: Cheetah.

No: Batman

Ben Affleck as Batman

Gal Gadot's chemistry with Ben Affleck was perfect in the 2017 Justice League and that will more than likely be the case in Zack Snyder's Justice League. While many would love to ship these two, their romance should be saved for a Justice League sequel.

Ben Affleck's Batman is going to be welcomed back with open arms in both The Flash and his supposed HBO Max series. However, fans don't want to burn out Ben Affleck again and have him leave again. Unless Diana guest stars in an episode of the HBO Max series, Ben should be left to perfect his Batman on his own.
