A new Wonder Woman 2 fan-poster brings Diana Prince to the '80s. The most critically successful entry in DC’s cinematic universe to date, 2017's Wonder Woman also did well at the box office, having amassed a total of more than $820 million worldwide, giving fans such high expectations for the sequel. Story details for the film are still scant at the moment but it's been established that the movie will see the Amazonian princess at the height of the Cold War. Director Patty Jenkins will be back to helm the 2019 project alongside Gal Gadot as the titular character and reportedly, also Chris Pine, despite the fact that his character, Steve Trevor, died in the original film. Meanwhile, the follow-up will see the debut of Kristen Wiig's Cheetah - the movie's main antagonist, as well as Pedro Pascal in an undisclosed role.
Last year, Screen Rant broke the news that the untitled Wonder Woman sequel will be another period piece set during the Cold War - intel that was recently confirmed by director Jenkins herself. Given this new time frame, many are already excited with what Diana Prince might be up to several decades since she first left Themyscira to blend in with the rest of the world. With the '80s dubbed one of the most vibrant (literally and figuratively) decades, one fan imagines what the movie's aesthetic will be considering the time period.

Solely focusing on Diana's facial profile, the artist incorporated vibrant colors and neon light lines that give the poster a stylized look, almost reminiscent of a cover of a rock band's EP during that era. After the gloomy backdrop of London at the height of the first World War, it'll be interesting how Wonder Woman 2 will encapsulate the feel and vibe of the '80s. The contrast between the lush greens and deep blue oceans of Themyscira was definitely a great visual storytelling parallel to drive the point of just how different the land of humans was from the the the secluded paradise. When Justice League rolled around during the modern-age, it appeared that the island has maintained its environment. And once again, will be great to see how it'll compare and contrast with how civilization evolved since Diana first joined the world.
Narrative-wise, Jenkins particularly leaned on the "fish-out-of-water" theme in Wonder Woman and it'll be curious to see how she's adapted to the world after the events of the first movie. As established in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Amazonian Goddess ultimately walked away from her superhero gig for some unknown reason. Whether or not that's explained in Wonder Woman 2 remains to be seen.
