A new piece of fan art imagines what Kristen Wiig would look like as Cheetah in Wonder Woman 2. The highly-anticipated sequel to 2017’s Wonder Woman is currently in pre-production and will start rolling cameras soon in order to meet its planned 2019 release date. Patty Jenkins is returning to direct the sequel – based on a story she co-wrote with DC Films co-chief Geoff Johns, and from a script by David Callaham – with Gal Gadot reprising her role as the eponymous superhero, Wonder Woman.

While little is known about the project at this time, what is known is that Wonder Woman 2 will be set in the 1980s against the backdrop of the Cold War, with a handful of stars from the first movie reprising their roles alongside Gadot’s Diana Prince. And now, Wiig is in talks to play Cheetah in the sequel. Cheetah is a moniker that multiple characters have used over the years, but the most famous and most well-known incarnation is Dr. Barbara Minerva – the current Cheetah in DC’s Rebirth comics. Considering that Wiig is still in early discussions with Warner Bros., it might be some time before the news is confirmed. Still, fans must be curious as to what Wiig would look like as the character.

Famed digital artist BossLogic created a new image today (below) that gives fans a taste as to what Kristen Wiig could look like as Cheetah in Wonder Woman 2. He even went as far as to create a new logo for the sequel, thus making the new image appear like a poster. Take a look:

Fan reactions to Wiig’s potential casting are decidedly mixed. While some are willing to give the comedian the benefit of the doubt and see how she might perform in the villainous role (if she’s cast), others are dismayed by the notion of Wiig playing Cheetah in the sequel. Sure, she doesn’t have extensive experience working in dramas, but Cheetah isn’t a typical villain. That’s what makes her different.

What’s more, comedians have a way of proving themselves in dramatic roles from time to time. Plus, many people were repulsed by the idea of Ben Affleck playing Batman and Gal Gadot playing Wonder Woman, but many of those naysayers have changed their tune. Then again, not everyone will be satisfied with every casting choice Warner Bros. makes. We’ll just have to wait and see if Wiig officially signs on for Wonder Woman 2. If not, WB will need to lock in another candidate before the film’s summer production start date.
