When will the Wonder Woman 2 trailer release? Diana Prince is set to return to the big screen in a sequel that takes place nearly seven decades after 2017's Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot is reprising her role as the Demigod and Patty Jenkins is returning to direct the movie, scheduled for a 2020 release.

After leaving her homeland, Diana threw herself into the middle of WWI where she vowed to stop the deadly conflict. With American spy Steve Trevor on her side, she managed to find Ares and defeat him in an explosive showdown. This time around, Wonder Woman finds herself in the midst of the Cold War, with a returned Steve Trevor (somehow). Filming for Wonder Woman 1984 wrapped at the end of 2018, and with less than a year until release, when can fans expect the trailer to arrive?

Wonder Woman 1984 will premiere in theaters on June 5, 2020. Many DC fans assumed that the team behind Wonder Woman would attend San Diego Comic-Con this summer but that doesn't look to be the case. WB will be sitting out SDCC this year, making the release of a trailer as with Aquaman and Shazam! unlikely. Jenkins has stated, however, state that the team is waiting until December to start the marketing campaign. This almost guarantees that the Wonder Woman 1984 trailer will release at the end of the year. The Wonder Woman 1984 trailer is presumed to play in front of the theatrical run of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, likely one of the most-anticipated films still to come in 2019 and thus having a large captive audience.

Warner Bros. changed their marketing strategy last year in terms of trailer releases. Even though the first footage of Aquaman was shown to SDCC attendees in 2017, WB didn't drop the official trailer until the following year, about five months prior to the theatrical release. Wonder Woman 1984 would be following a similar five-to-six-month timeline with a December 2019 trailer release ahead of the June 2020 premiere.

Along with the trailer hint, Jenkins released a new look at the Amazonian goddess through a Wonder Woman 1984 teaser poster. The image features Diana in an entirely new armored costume surrounded by a colorful, yet psychedelic, "W." This will, of course, be the first of many promotional materials released ahead of June 2020.

The 1980 period piece will feature the return of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor. Despite his presumed death in Wonder Woman, the movie will somehow explain his surprising reappearance. Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright are also confirmed to reprise their roles as Hippolyta and Antiope, respectively. Kristen Wiig will be playing Barbara Ann Minerva, aka "Cheetah," Diana's new foe and the main antagonist of the film. The cast also includes Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Kelvin Yu, Gabriella Wilde, and Kristoffer Polaha. More details regarding their characters will be unveiled once the Wonder Woman 1984 trailer approaches.
