Patty Jenkins, writer and director of Wonder Woman 1984, stated that the upcoming superhero movie is technically ready, five months before its official release date. Last summer, when Jenkins announced that footage from Wonder Woman 1984 would not be revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, the fans started to worry about the progress of the movie.

Instead, the DCEU sequel will arrive on the big screen on June 5, 2020 and, according to IMDb, it's already one of the most anticipated movies of the upcoming year. Gal Gadot will be featured once again as the protagonist, but she will not carry Wonder Woman's iconic sword and shield. As Gadot herself explained at CCXP, those weapons were omitted from the movie to make the heroine look less aggressive. Additionally, a trailer demonstrated that Diana and Steve's roles will be inverted in the unreleased movie. In other words, while in the first film Diana was feeling like a fish out of water on the Earth, this time she'll teach Steve how to adjust to 1984. All those details sparked curiosity in the fans.

As Cinema Blend reports, recently Jenkins said the movie featuring the feminist superhero is ready, well in advance of its official release date. The director confessed that, since the Wonder Woman sequel won't be released until next summer, for the first time in her career she's "fiddling", i.e., adding the last finishing touches to the movie. Plus, Jenkins revealed the runtime of the first cut: 2 hours and 45 minutes, which is already a fair length for a superhero film without the need for additional cuts.

Jenkins also stated that she's not ready to announce an official runtime yet, but she recounted that, during the production of the movie, she expanded several times on scenes that were set to be minor. "It was interesting that so many scenes that we set out to shoot, then something great would happen," said Jenkins, "and then we would expand upon it." However, she reassured the fans that the movie has not changed since the first cut, except for some minor details.

Since the Wonder Woman sequel is ready so early, the director has plenty of time to make several adjustments, ensuring that the movie will reach the best possible quality before becoming available on the big screen. This way, the next DCEU film will probably live up to the hype surrounding its release. However, since the official launch date has already been set, it's still very unlikely that the fans will be able to see Wonder Woman 1984 before June 2020.
