Mondo is teaming up with Warner Bros. and WaterTower Music for a special vinyl release of the Wonder Woman 1984 soundtrack and new posters. The DC Extended Universe sequel picks up just over 65 years after the events of the first film as Gal Gadot's titular hero is still reeling from the loss of Chris Pine's Steve Trevor. However, as she looks to uncover the secret behind his surprise return, Diana must also face off against the charismatic businessman Maxwell Lord and Cheetah.

On the heels of announcing a special vinyl release for the soundtrack of Zack Snyder's Justice League, Mondo has announced a three-disc vinyl release of Hans Zimmer's score for WW84. Featuring artwork by La Boca and housed in a tri-fold jacket with holofoil elements, the vinyl pressing also features liner notes from writer and director Patty Jenkins. The vinyl pressing are being offered in a special 180-gram fireworks colored vinyl exclusive to Mondo's webstore in a limited 1,000 copy inventory, as well as 180-gram black vinyl and swirl-colored vinyl through select independent retailers.

In addition to the vinyl pressing, Mondo is releasing two new posters for the film created by La Boca, one of which is a variation of the soundtrack cover itself. The vinyl release is set to retail for $45 while both posters will retail for $50, all of which are set to go on sale on June 30. Check out the posters and soundtrack below as well as a statement from Mondo Record Label Manager Mo Shafeek:

"Hans Zimmer's score to Wonder Woman 1984 is quite possibly my favorite piece of superhero film scoring since John Williams' Superman: The Movie and Danny Elfman's Batman. I know that sounds hyperbolic, but even before our test pressings arrived, it was one of my most listened to albums on Spotify of the last 6 months. It's that good. I can't wait for you to hear how good it sounds on vinyl out of big speakers."

When it comes to the superhero genre, a number of things must be executed correctly to win over audiences and the musical score is certainly one of the key ingredients. After all, the Avengers films wouldn't have had such a big emotional impact without Alan Silvestri's iconic scores, and Paul Francis Webster and Bob Harris' legendary "Spider-Man" theme has been associated with the character since the 1960s. Nowadays, there are certainly plenty of different ways to listen to music, but vinyl continues to be one of the most authentic, making the announcement of WW84's soundtrack getting such a release a treat for fans of both the film and the medium.

Even for those who didn't quite connect to the DCEU sequel the same way they did with its predecessor, it's hard to deny Wonder Woman 1984's score was a rousing one. Though some may be more eager for news regarding the in-development threequel, this is sure to entice fans for the time being. The vinyl soundtrack and new posters can be purchased on June 30 while WW84 is currently available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD and streaming on HBO Max.
