Zack Snyder recently revealed that he has seen Wonder Woman 1984 and loved the movie. Wonder Woman 1984 is the ninth film installment in the DC Extended Universe, and is scheduled for release on October 2nd, 2020. The long-awaited movie is directed by Patty Jenkins, who co-wrote the film with Geoff Johns. Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot as the titular character, who previously portrayed Diana Prince in Batman v Superman (2016), Wonder Woman (2017), and Justice League (2017).

With the trailer of the Snyder Cut of Justice League being released online recently, Snyder has once again been firmly placed in the entertainment spotlight. The Snyder Cut is scheduled for release on HBO Max in 2021, and despite facing several roadblocks, Snyder is still seen as the architect of the DCEU and crucial to the franchise. While his involvement with more recent DC Comics movies has lessened, he has remained a producer on Wonder Woman 1984, and the extended universe that helped create is showing no sign of slowing down, with eight films scheduled for release from now until 2022.

During the Justice League panel of DC FanDome, which was streamed online last weekend, Zack Snyder hosted short interview segments featuring the stars of the popular movie. When Gal Gadot appeared on screen, she emphasized the amazing experience she’s had as Diana Prince and thanked her fans for supporting the Snyder Cut. In response, Zack Snyder disclosed that he has seen the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984 and that he absolutely loved Gadot’s performance in the film. Read a snippet of the interview below:

Zack Snyder: Looks like we’ve got something from Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot!

Gal Gadot: Zack, when you cast me in the role of Wonder Woman, I had no idea what an amazing ride I was in for. It’s been life-changing to play this character, mostly because I’ve got to meet so many incredible fans around the world who love her like we do. Fans, who I hope are all sharing this experience today, because it’s all happening because of you. So, to all the fans who asked for this cut, you obviously have your own superpowers, because just like the members of Justice League, you are stronger together, and you made this possible. So thank you, I love you!

Zack Snyder: Thanks Gal! I can’t wait for fans to see you in Wonder Woman ‘84, which is an amazing movie, and you are amazing in it. And Patty, of course, did an amazing job, so you guys are an awesome team, and minds are going to be blown when they see [the movie]. So, thanks again. That was great.

Snyder and Gadot

Quite some detail has been divulged regarding the new Wonder Woman movie. Based on the trailer and photos from the set, it is clear that Diana Prince will be facing down against Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah, and the film feature a flashback to the Amazonia Games. Diana Prince will also undoubtedly put on the Golden Eagle Armor, which will be very exciting for fans to see. However, Wonder Woman 1984 may not include any direct references to Justice League or the rest of the DCEU, as creators wanted to focus on Diana’s own story and her origins on Themyscira.

As for Snyder, though he has been working on many films outside of the DCEU franchise, it is clear that a lot of love remains between him and both the fans and other talents involved with the upcoming DC films. The Snyder Cut of Justice League features a lot more of Wonder Woman than the 2017 did, so it will be interesting to see just how different Diana Prince will be between the two versions of the movie. Furthermore, as Wonder Woman 1984 is a prequel to Justice League, fans will be able to see not only Snyder’s interpretation of the film, but they will also be offered a brand new perspective on Gadot’s character, given the background that Wonder Woman 1984 provides.
