Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) has Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) captured on her Lasso of Truth in a new Wonder Woman 1984 image. Director Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot reunite for the 2017 smash hit that was Wonder WomanAnother period superhero film set in the 1980s, the upcoming Warner Bros. and DC Films project see the titular character at the height of the Cold War between the US and the Soviet Union. The new era brings new foes for the hero including Pedro Pascal's a powerful businessman bad guy.

Originally scheduled to release last November, Warner Bros. pushed Wonder Woman 1984 to June this year because they always wanted a summer release like they had for Wonder Woman. Unfortunately due to the coronavirus pandemic that has left Hollywood on standstill, its rollout has been pushed back once again, albeit only a few months back to August. Regardless, the marketing campaign for Wonder Woman 1984 continues with the release of some high-resolution images.

Three new promotional stills from the Jenkins-directed DCEU movie has been unveiled by Empire Magazine (via Mikhail Villareal) in conjunction to their feature of Wonder Woman 1984. The first one features Diana in the middle of the battle, while the second one reveals Barbara Ann Minerva aka Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) walking in an alley with a significantly different aesthetic than previous images of her from the movie. The most interesting out of the bunch, however, was the image of Lord tied up with Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth. Check out the photos.

The image of Lord is related to the still of Diana and Cheetah's battle that was revealed prior by the same outlet. In the battle snap, the two ladies face each other while Lord can be seen on the floor, free from captivity. From the looks of it, Cheetah came to his rescue. This further hints that Lord and Minerva are in some sort of relationship. A different image released last month saw the two sharing an intimate moment with each other. While it's unclear what's the real nature of their relationship, it's possible that Cheetah is somewhat attracted to Lord, forcing her to cross Diana. In Wonder Woman 1984's first trailer, the women appear to be close with each other, with Minerva even asking if the Themysciran princess has ever been in love.

Marketed as a dream-seller, Pascal's Lord could've very well seduced Minerva to work for him - or at least, take advantage of her attraction to him, knowing of her friendship with Diana. He uses this to get to the Amazonian goddess, more likely for nefarious reason. After all, the character is presented as the personification of greed. Outside of the aforementioned players, it's also curious how Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) fits in all of this. Aside from questions about how he's able to come back from the dead, it's still unclear how he factors in Wonder Woman 1984.
