Wonder Woman 1984 behind-the-scenes video offers a new look at Lynda Carter's cameo. After the success of the first Wonder Woman film in 2017, director Patty Jenkins reunited with Gal Gadot for a sequel. The blockbuster was, unfortunately, delayed several times due to varying reasons. In the end, Warner Bros. opted for a hybrid release, rolling it out on theaters the same day it hit HBO Max.

Just like its predecessor, Wonder Woman 1984 is another period piece that follows Diana Prince in her life in the '80s at the height of the Cold War between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. At this point, she's getting increasingly lonely as the friends she made in the first World War are slowly dying. So as she holds a job at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC, she's mostly living her life as a recluse — until an accidental encounter with the Dreamstone brings Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) back to life. As for adversaries, Wonder Woman faced two new villains in Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) and Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal). But, a hidden story amidst the sequel's main narrative introduces a new hero —  Asteria (Carter), an Amazonian who first donned the Golden Eagle Armor.

As with most major blockbusters nowadays, Wonder Woman 1984 featured a post-credits scene that properly debuts Asteria. In the scene, she roams around a Christmas market, revealing that she's been living among human beings like Diana. Now, to celebrate Carter's birthday this year, Gadot shared a new video from the set of the movie during the filming of the aforementioned scene. Watch it below:

Asteria's story wasn't fully explained in Wonder Woman 1984. If anything, some might argue that it's shoehorned into it as the sequel's primary story could've still worked without it. As explained by Diana to Steve, who spotted the golden armor in her house, Asteria allowed the rest of the Amazonians to flee home to Zeus' newly-created Themyscira. It's uncertain what happened to her after that, but considering her golden statue in the hidden paradise, it's safe to assume that she's presumed to have died long ago. Inspired by her bravery, Diana attempted to track her down when she left home, but all she could find was her golden armor which she eventually donned in the movie's final action sequence.

With Wonder Woman 3 already green lit, it's curious if Asteria will factor in it. For what it's worth, post-credits scenes are usually utilized to set up what's next in terms of story, so it's possible that the Wonder Woman 1984 sequel would see Diana finally encounter her. This directly involves Carter in the franchise decades since she played the Amazonian Goddess on the small screen in the '70s. The question is when exactly the events of the threequel will land in the DCEU timeline.
