Marvel Comics' highly anticipated Women of Marvel comic will be arriving for the spring season. To commemorate this historic event, Marvel will be enlisting a host of their most talented female creatives to lend their distinct voices and artistry to the title.

Women of Marvel #1 will serve as a standalone one-shot title, but a one-shot featuring Marvel's greatest female superheroes. Rather than stick to one story, Women of Marvel will feature a series of anthology tales centered around a handful of Marvel's female superheroes and their villains. A  sneak preview released from Marvel.com has shed a light on select heroes featuring in the one shot; Peggy Carter, She Hulk, Misty Knight, Rogue, Gamora, Marrow, and Mystique. Marvel is not wasting resources when it comes to the mass of talent brought onboard for this upcoming book. Similar to the title's cohesive nature, Women of Marvel will not be written by one established female comic writer or artist but several.

As if that was not enough of an incentive for fans, Power Pack and Cable co-creator Louise Simonson will be kicking off Women of Marvel with a memorable introduction for longtime Marvel fans. Following Simonson's introduction will be a She Hulk-centric tale written by Nadia Shammas (Squire). Writers Natasha Alterici (Heathen), Anne Toole (Horizon Zero Dawn), and Zoraida Cordova (Star Wars) are joined by female artists Kei Zama (Avengers Mech Strike), Skylar Patridge (Resonant), Joanna Estep (Roadsong 1), and Eleonora Carlini (Batgirl), who are each involved in the project in select capacities. It is yet to be seen exactly which female hero (or villain) they have been entrusted with. With more writers likely to be revealed, Women of Marvel will herald an Avengers level of creative talent behind the scenes.

The comic will not only examine female representation in Marvel in the modern day, but also in the past. A relic of that past playing an integral role in Women of Marvel will be WWII spy Peggy Carter. Only here, this Peggy written by Elsa Sjunneson (Jessica Jones Playing with Fire), will not simply operate as Agent Carter but as superhero Captain Peggy Carter, a popular moniker pulled from writer Saladin Ahmed's run on Exiles. Alongside She Hulk and Carter, a following tale will feature the no nonsense New York private investigator Misty Knight on her own investigative adventure, interlaced with the ever-present super heroic fare. Though these are independent arcs, the stories in Women of Marvel will manage to focus on the emotional beats behind these heroes and villains. While details remain sparse, writer Zoraida Cordova has some big plans in store for exploring the Guardians of the Galaxy's deadliest assassin Gamora.

As Marvel Comics continues to expand into a new decade, it's crucial to remember the superpowered women who have helped keep this universe standing up until this point. Women of Marvel looks to be a celebration of the greatest female heroes in comics as both saviors and humans. The future seems to be female for a bright new era of Marvel Comics. The Women of Marvel one-shot will release in comic book shops and digital platforms on April 21st.
