Next year, Marvel Comics is bringing back the Women of Marvel special with some major heroines getting new stories. Black Widow, Jessica Jones, and Squirrel Girl, will all be featured, as well as some other stunning heroines. New details have been revealed about the upcoming issue.

Marvel first published a Women of Marvel issue in 2010. Last year, the special returned as part of the Marvel's Voices line of comics. It featured an all-women team of comic creators presenting new stories about Marvel's heroines. Now, the company will release another special highlighting the incredible women in Marvel Comics - both creators and characters.

The cover of Women of Marvel has been revealed by Marvel Comics, as well as some of the creators involved - and details about some of the heroines fans can expect to see. The gorgeous cover is illustrated by Mirka Andolfo and the art highlights Black Cat, America Chavez, the Wasp, and the X-Men's Storm and Jubilee. They are each in their signature looks, looking stunning, dangerous, and ready for action.

Writers involved in this special include Charlie Jane Anders, Mirka Andolfo, Jordie Bellaire, Rhianna Pratchett, and Preeti Chhibber, though there will be others. Announced artists include Zoe Thorogood, Jen Bartel, and Marguerite Savage, with more to be revealed later. The issue will feature a Squirrel Girl and Black Widow team-up that will be written by Charlie Jane Anders, who won a Hugo award for her novelette, Six Months, Three Days in 2017. She has also won Nebula and Locus Awards for other works. Shanna the She-Devil will appear in a story with Silver Sable written by Rhianna Pratchett, who has won awards for her video game script writing.

Jessica Jones will have a story penned by Jordie Bellaire with art by Zoe Thorogood. Black Cat will also be included in a story by Preeti Chhibber with art from Jen Bartel, Marguerite Sauvage, and others. Preeti Chhibber is a novelist with Marvel stories under her belt (Peter and Ned's Ultimate Travel Journal and the Marvel: Avenger's Assembly series). Mirka Andolfo, the cover artist, will also be making her writing debut with Marvel in this upcoming issue. The cast of creators is impressive and the heroines in Marvel's universe are some of the best in comics. There is a lot to look forward to within this announcement.

The 2021 Women of Marvel special incorporated many fun new stories and paired them with beautiful art. The issue for 2022 likely won't disappoint. After all, Squirrel Girl, Jessica Jones, and Black Widow are just a few of the heroines that will be featured. Fans can check out Marvel's heroines when Women of Marvel #1 releases March 9, just in time for International Women's Day.
