Warning! Spoilers ahead for X Deaths of Wolverine #2

In the latest issue of Marvel's new X Deaths of Wolverine series, a new cybernetic version of Wolverine has been created complete with powerful claws that do much more than cutting foes. While the connected X Lives of Wolverine series sees the X-Men focused on the past and attempting to save the life of Professor Xavier, X Deaths sees Moira MacTaggert on the run, evading this dark new Wolverine who's gone rogue thanks to the Phalanx, carrying with him a dark tease for the future of the X-Men's island nation of Krakoa.

During Marvel's preceding Inferno event, Moira's powers as a secret mutant were taken away by Mystique, meaning that she won't be reincarnated when she dies. It's also been revealed that Moira has cancer due to her time on Krakoa, meaning that the clock is ticking for her to make her last life count. To top it all off, this dark Cyborg Wolverine has mysteriously been born and is connected to the Phalanx, an evil cybernetic race from space. Having encountered the Phalanx in one of her previous lives, it looks as though this cyborg Wolverine has been sent Terminator-style to take her out.

While Moira is a fugitive and one the run from both Mystique and this rogue Wolverine, X Deaths of Wolverine #2 from Benjamin Percy and Federico Vicentini shows that the cyborg mutant has new tech-based power in which he can use his claws to download information from a computer. As such, it's a whole different kind of "hacking and slicing" than Wolverine is typically known for. Given these new powers and upgrades coming from the advanced Phalanx, it's possible that this Wolverine could even hack into Iron Man's armor or even Ultron with this new cybernetic form.

While there's still a lot of mystery behind this Cyborg Wolverine and what he's truly capable of, this new issue opens up a wide range of tech-based conflicts for the Living Weapon (a field he's not usually considered for). As such, it's precisely why he might be underestimated in the issues to come. With the X-Men and the real Wolverine being so focused on the Russians using time-travel to attack them in the past, they may be ignoring what's going on in the present with this dark Logan who's likely teasing a greater Phalanx attack in the future once Moira is dealt with.

Regardless, this Cyborg Wolverine does indeed have tech-based powers on top of his expected abilities, making him a true force to be reckoned with. While Moira seems like she intends to take him out before he kills her, she looks to be way in over her head. Being hunted by a rogue Wolverine would have been bad enough, but a cyborg version with cybernetic claws ups the ante in this ongoing series to a deadly degree.
