Warning: contains spoilers for X-Force Annual #1

The X-Men hero Wolverine is one of the deadliest mutants in the world. Besides his indestructible bones, sharp claws, and a healing factor that can make him recover from grievous injuries, Logan is also an expert warrior who's survived countless bloody battles. However, Wolverine still has one major weakness that's nothing short of hilarious. This weak spot has been exploited by Orchis, a faction committed to eradicating mutants from the world, with gruesome results for Logan.

Orchis is a secret organization founded by some of the top scientific minds that mankind has to offer, recruited from many high-level groups such as HYDRA, A.I.M., S.H.I.E.L.D., and H.A.M.M.E.R. Orchis predicts that after the mutants finally overcame their differences and banded together to found the nation of Krakoa they will slowly but inevitably replace humankind and all other non-mutant species in the galaxy unless they are stopped. Orchis is Krakoa's premier enemy, and they have already achieved the dangerous objectives of creating a Mother Mold (luckily destroyed by the X-Men) and Nimrod, the ultimate form of Sentinel that was not supposed to appear until a distant future. To defend against Orchis and other threats to Krakoa's survival, the Silent Council authorized the creation of a new X-Force, an intelligence/covert ops team that takes on the missions and dirty jobs that the official X-Men team cannot handle.

In X-Force Annual #1 (by Nadia Shammas, Rafael Pimentel, Carlos Lopez, and Joe Caramagna), the X-Force led by Wolverine, receives a tip that Orchis has stolen a shipment containing flowers grown on Krakoa that have unique properties. Orchis is successfully reverse-engineering the unique technology developed by the mutant island. It is revealed that this is actually a trap and that Orchis just wants to study and test the abilities of Wolverine, Domino, and Kid Omega. What is worse is that Beast, Krakoa's Chief Intelligence Officer and X-Force's de facto leader, knew about it, but let his team fall into the trap because he is also interested in the test results. When the trio enters the sham Orchis lab, they are each neutralized using a specific system to counter their powers. The measure used against Wolverine is simple and absolutely ridiculous.

The walls of a corridor have been turned into a super-magnet. Wolverine's skeleton is entirely coated with the rare metal called Adamantium, so he sticks to the wall like a fly, unable to move. Meanwhile, Orchis' robots perform all kinds of gruesome experiments on him, testing the limit of his regenerative abilities. It's a cruel and morbid scene but toned down by the fact that Wolverine was taken out by simple magnets. While technically possible, this seems like the most ridiculous way to neutralize one of the most feared mutants in the world. Wolverine has been in countless battles, many against scientifically advanced foes, and yet no one ever thought to use a simple magnet to neutralize him. The one exception is Magneto, who easily tossed Logan around during their many encounters (and one time ripped all Adamantium off his body), but that's exactly why Wolverine should have been prepared and taken countermeasures for this weakness by now.

There is also the question of how Orchis' robots can operate in the magnetic field. The answer, presented later in the issue, is that they use "Magneto Protocols", meaning that Orchis has developed a way to block the Master of Magnetism's powers. However, the X-Men also have some of the greatest scientific minds in the world among their ranks (such as Forge, or even Beast himself), and one would assume that, after so many years and countless battles, one of them would have provided their prized fighter, Wolverine, with a countermeasure for such a ridiculous and easily-exploitable weakness.
