One of the biggest memes to ever come out of the pages of comic books is the time Batman slapped Robin in the face. The image has become famous, as even people who don't read comics are more than familiar with it. Marvel Comics did their own version of the iconic image, as Wolverine slapped Deadpool in the face in a comic book cover back in 2016.

The original meme comes from the pages of World's Finest Comics #153 (1965). The comic takes place in an alternate universe story of sorts, where Batman's dad is still alive and the Caped Crusader feuds with Superman. When Batman's father is killed and his invention, the cure for Green Kryptonite, is stolen, Batman suspects Superman is responsible. When Robin confronts him about how unlikely that would be, he slaps his sidekick in the face. The infamous panel has been a meme for a while with multiple variations being created. Marvel made an official parody on the cover of All-New Wolverine.

All-New Wolverine #4 from Tom Taylor, David Lopez, David Navarrot, Nathan Fairbairn sees Laura Kinney getting some help from Doctor Strange against Alchamex Genetics, who are responsible for creating multiple clones of her. The variant cover from the issue from artist Tom Raney is Marvel's version of the popular Batman slapping Robin meme, as Wolverine slaps Deadpool across the face after the Merc with a Mouth asks her "hey, how's Logan?" In comic continuity, Logan dies during the appropriately titled "Death of Wolverine" arc after his adamantium bones are hardened by chemicals. His death was extremely traumatic for Laura, who assumed the mantle of Wolverine following his death. So, naturally, she responds "Logan is Deaaaaaaad," just like Batman did in the most famous interpretation of the meme.

It should come as little surprise that Deadpool said something hurtful/offensive enough to get slapped in the face. Asking her how Logan is doing is a low-blow, even for Wade Wilson. In the cover, Laura was having none of it and promptly slapped him across his face. Deadpool is lucky that she didn't take a more violent approach and cut his head clean off his body - it might have been warranted in the situation.

It's a fun cover that pays tribute to one of the most meme-able moments in comic book history. Wolverine had to feel good slapping the heck out of Deadpool. Marvel made the meme their own with this excellent, hilarious cover.
