Death of Me star Luke Hemsworth reveals he'd like to play Wolverine. Until now, Hugh Jackman has been most associated with the Marvel hero. Jackman has played Wolverine since 2000's X-Men. He's put in several other appearances over the years in both ensemble films and standalone movies. Most recently, he starred in 2017's critically acclaimed Logan, though his Wolverine has since appeared in Deadpool 2 and The New Mutants via archive footage. However, after nearly two decades, Jackman has said he's done playing the beloved character.

Though it will hard for another actor to top Jackman's performance, Wolverine will likely be rebooted at some point. Marvel gained control of the hero with Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox last year. Wolverine is expected to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe along with the other X-Men characters. At least one Marvel creative, Mark Ruffalo, is convinced Wolverine should make the jump to the MCU sooner rather than later, even pitching a Hulk-Wolverine team-up movie. However, another, Avengers: Endgame director Joe Russo, thinks Marvel should wait a beat between Jackman's performance and another actor tackling the role.

When the company does decide to reboot Wolverine, one actor already has his hat in the ring. Speaking with Screen Rant about his new movie Death of Me, Hemsworth revealed he's thought about playing another superhero after his cameo in Thor: Ragnarok:

I would love to. I grew up with them. I learned to draw through comic books, copying comic books since I was about 10 years old. Spawn was a big one for; I really loved Todd McFarlane's Spawn. And then Batman - I would have fought Rob Pattinson for those gauntlets. And Wolverine! I'm like, "Come on, just pass them on, mate. Let's give it to another Aussie." I'll have to grow some chest hair, but I'm ready for Wolverine.

The Luke Hemsworth version of Thor

In Ragnarok, Hemsworth briefly took his brother Chris' place as Thor in one of the movie's most memorable scenes. In it, there's a play within the film titled The Tragedy of Loki, which sees Matt Damon memorably play Loki opposite Luke Hemswoth's Thor. However, as the scene is only a fun cameo, it makes sense the actor has thought about other superheroes he'd like the play. Of the ones mentioned, Wolverine seems like the best fit for Hemsworth. For one, it would be neat to see him act against his brother, and Marvel clearly already has a good relationship with the Hemsworth family.

However, more importantly, Luke Hemsworth has proven himself as an actor in projects like Westworld, racking up many other TV and film appearances as well. He also has a similar build to Wolverine, and based on his joke about chest hair, is willing to commit to the part. Though the likelihood of Hemsworth nabbing the role  depends on when Marvel decides to reboot Wolverine, the actor could be a great choice.
