Warning! Spoilers for What If...? Miles Morales #2 by Marvel Comics

Miles Morales is Marvel's Wolverine in a brand new What If...? comic, as the young hero has an extra weapon Logan never had: a fourth claw on each hand. In the new What If...? Miles Morales #2, Marvel Comics introduces a new version of Miles, who is the Wolverine of his universe. The most significant difference between his powers and Earth-616 Wolverine's is that Morales got one extra claw, which readers see in action.

Despite his mutant gene being passed onto his children and different clones, Wolverine's claws are unique among his own kind. Wolverine has three claws that come from each hand, as his adamantium-coated bones make him one of the deadliest heroes in the Marvel Universe. For example, his son Daken has three claws, but one of them comes out of his wrist. Meanwhile, Laura Kinney, aka Marvel Comics' current Wolverine, has two claws on each hand and a single claw on each foot. Lastly, Laura's clone and sister Gabby Kinney has a single big claw that pops from her knuckles. And now, a Wolverine version of Miles Morales gets his own unique claws.

In What If...? Miles Morales ... Became Wolverine by John Ridley, Farid Karami, Chris Sotomayor, and VC's Cory Petit, the usual Spider-Man hero is the Wolverine of his reality. Miles was taken as a child in the new world and experimented on similarly to Wolverine was by Weapon X. As one of the most renowned killers in the universe, Miles' Wolverine is hunted by SHIELD. When they send an agent after him (who turns out to be his dad), Morales' adamantium claws are snapped off, leading him to unsheath his claws deeper from his body, showing four claws.

After his dad dies in a subsequent battle against Sabretooth (Uncle Aaron), Miles retracts his claws with blood dripping down his hands. The hero is recruited by the X-Men, who are led by Ganke Lee's Professor X. Like Wolverine before him from the usual Marvel Universe, the mutant superteam wants to help him control his powers and be a force of good.

With Miles Morales becoming multiple familiar heroes from the Marvel Universe in the What If...? series, Marvel can show off the subtle differences between his version of the heroes and the main versions themselves. As Wolverine, he had an extra weapon that the popular mutant never did with an extra claw. Miles Morales quickly proved why he is considered one of the deadliest mutants in his own Marvel Comics universe.
