In another world, a different version of Wolverine got a sort of karmic payment for his killing of Jean Grey. The reality-hopping Exiles introduced Sasquatch who was eventually revealed to be Canadian scientist Heather Hudson. When her and teammate Morph were stranded on a world pursued by a relentless Weapon X, she reveals that she helped capture the Wolverine on her world, someone she helped rehabilitate and eventually married. This revelation is made even more tragic when Heather admits that when her Logan became uncontrollable, she was forced to kill him like how Wolverine killed Jean Grey to stop the Phoenix Force within her.

Introduced in Exiles #10, Sasquatch fought alongside the Exiles as they traveled to parallel dimensions in need of repair or assistance in avoiding great catastrophes. When their mission allowed for some downtime, Sasquatch transformed into her other form, an African American scientist named Heather Hudson. While other Exiles knew of the bespectacled, red-headed counterpart who is often affiliated with Alpha Flight, this Heather was a scientist who acquired her abilities through an experiment with gamma radiation. Although these powers would later be revealed to be acquired through mystical methods, her real origin story was revealed when the Exiles were scattered throughout dimensions following an accident traveling between worlds. Heather and Morph ended up on another world’s version of the Canadian wilderness where they are discovered by Wolverine, fresh from his escape from the Weapon X facility yet still recovering from their intensive conditioning and brainwashing.

In Exiles #33 by Judd Winick and Tom Mandrake, the savage Wolverine not only cuts Morph in half but also seriously injures Sasquatch, the former managing to pull himself back together. While creating some temporary bandages, Heather pleads with Morph to leave and knocks him out when he refuses, hiding his body so she can take care of someone she knows very well. In her flashbacks, it's revealed that Heather also joined Alpha Flight and one of her earliest missions was pursuing and capturing the Wild Man, her world’s version of Wolverine who ran rampant in the Canadian wilderness. Heather assisted in Logan’s rehabilitation and soon their friendship blossomed into a romance that ended in marriage. Their happiness ended when his former masters in Weapon X activated a dormant chip within his body that turned him into a vicious and relentless killer, his rampage ending when Heather was forced to kill him.

This version of Sasquatch takes Heather Hudson’s connection to Wolverine to another level by placing them in a situation that made her Wolverine and him Jean Grey. In the comics and films, Logan has been forced to kill the woman he loves either to save her life or protect others from the nigh-omnipotent power of the Phoenix Force she shares her body with. In this case, Heather saw her husband being manipulated by forces beyond his control as he slaughtered their friends and teammates. To protect others and save Logan from suffering any more manipulation or trauma, Heather chose to mercy kill him, a permanent death which due to Logan’s unique mutant powers is not an easy feat to accomplish.

Although Heather would find love again with fellow Alpha Flight teammate James Hudson, her past memories with Logan resonated with her, especially in this moment that mirrored her former husband’s life uncannily. When she faced this Wolverine again, Heather changed out of her Sasquatch form, her human form and words managing to quell the ferocious mutant. Although Heather and Morph, who regained consciousness eventually, were soon teleported away to rejoin the Exiles, Heather’s interaction with Wolverine proved that just like with Jean Grey, she still loved the man despite their sincere yet tragic history.
