One of the greatest ways comic book fans can own a piece of their favorite characters or stories is by collecting toys and figures, and now two more MAFEX figures can be added to a collector’s list with the release of Deadpool and Wolverine depicting the characters in their killer X-Force costumes. Not only are the Deadpool and Wolverine figures incredibly detailed in their iconic grey suits, but the MAFEX figures are also posable and even customizable.
Both Deadpool and Wolverine began their comic-book careers with a rocky start, being the villains of their debut issues. Wolverine made his first appearance in The Incredible Hulk #181 by Len Wein and Herb Trimpe in which Wolverine was hired by the government to take the Hulk down, effectively making him a Hulk villain throughout the issue. Deadpool made his first appearance in New Mutants #98 by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza where, similarly to Wolverine against the Hulk, Deadpool is hired to kill Cable and proves to be a worthy adversary to the heroic mutant and his team.
As depicted in the all-new MAFEX Wolverine and Deadpool figures from Medicom, Deadpool and Wolverine clearly came a long way from their first introductions, with both characters eventually being on the same X-Men offshoot team, the X-Force. The figures depict the two living weapons wearing the suits that were made famous in the pages of Uncanny X-Force #1 by Rick Remender and Jerome Opena. The comic outlines the formation of an all-new X-Force team with a darker tone both in content and aesthetic. Part of that darkness came in the form of the team’s new uniform, taking Wolverine and Deadpool out of their yellow and red suits respectively, and into primarily grey and black costumes. The MAFEX figures pull those versions of the antiheroes straight from the page and into the real world with an extra feature that allows the buyer to personalize the figure.
Each action figure, which stands just shy of 6” tall, comes with three removable heads all with completely different facial expressions. The Wolverine figure will come with standard, angry, and shouting expressions with interchangeable hands as well, including one with his iconic claws drawn for attack. The Deadpool figure will come with four separate expressive heads which will depict the character as standard, squinting, angry, and surprised with his katanas as the included accessory. These features, along with their posable capabilities, will allow fans to use the figures to create any iconically brutal scene from the comics and put Wolverine and Deadpool on display. Or, if the action part of the action figures will be put to use, playing with these figures will be all the more fun as their expressions can change as the players’ imaginations run wild.
From being the perfect additions to any display case to having the capabilities for super fun playtime, these Deadpool and Wolverine figures are great for fans of all ages. The MAFEX Wolverine and Deadpool X-Force Variant figures from Medicom will be available in September of 2022 with pre-orders available now.
