A new piece of fan art shows what Daniel Radcliffe could look like as Wolverine for Marvel's X-Men reboot. Radcliffe is most known for his role of Harry Potter in all eight of the Harry Potter films distributed by Warner Bros., while Hugh Jackman is most known for his role of Wolverine in the X-Men franchise.
Now that Disney has acquired 20th Century Fox, Marvel Studios has the ability to add even more superheroes to its ever-growing cinematic universe. Two of the biggest properties Disney acquired were the rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Fox had previously distributed ten X-Men films, as well as an eleventh film called The New Mutants that has still yet to be released. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel unveiled their full slate of films for Phase 4 and confirmed that both the Fantastic Four and the X-Men would be joining the MCU. All of the X-Men characters (besides Deadpool) are expected to be recast in the MCU, meaning the internet has gone crazy with speculation on who could be the next Wolverine.
While there haven’t been any casting announcements for the next Wolverine, one piece of fan art imagines what Radcliffe could look like in the role. The fan art from erathrim20 shows Radcliffe with the iconic Wolverine hairstyle while also wearing the classic black and yellow suit. The artist's full post can be seen below:
Ever since it was announced that Marvel would one day include the X-Men in the MCU, people have been speculating on who could replace Jackman, who officially retired from playing Wolverine after Logan in 2017. Several actors have been rumored for the role of Wolverine including Tom Hardy, Keanu Reeves, and Taron Egerton, but Marvel Studios hasn't yet released a shortlist for who they are considering for their X-Men reboot.
After the last Harry Potter movie came out in 2011, Radcliffe continued to act, appearing in films like Horns, Victor Frankenstein, and Swiss Army Man. That being said, nothing has been able to get him out of the shadow of Harry Potter. If Radcliffe were to be cast in Marvel's X-Men reboot, it would no doubt be his biggest role since his time as a wizard. Even though the X-Men may not join the MCU for quite a few years, Disney is likely already thinking of who they could cast as Wolverine. Jackman has become synonymous with the role in the past 19 years, so getting the right actor for Wolverine will be crucial to making the X-Men reboot a success.
