With a centuries-long lifespan, Wolverine has charted a complicated path through the Marvel Universe. From his ties in the Weapon Plus program with Captain America, to fighting The Hand with Black Widow in Uncanny X-Men #268, and even having a relationship with Carol Danvers. Yes, THE Captain Marvel! One they'll be revisiting when the pair join forces in April's Captain Marvel #17.

To give fans some historical context, Captain Marvel and Wolverine are far from strangers to one another. Danvers' made her debut in Marvel Super-Heroes #13 (1968) by Roy Thomas and Gene Colan as a government agent for Air Force Intelligence. While involved in the government, she got a chance to work on top-secret missions with everyone from Nick Fury to Logan. This occurred around the 1960s where Logan was not known as the famous X-Men named Wolverine, and before Carol gained the powers of the Kree.

After their time together in special forces, the two parted ways when Danvers obtained her Kree powers, becoming Ms. Marvel and a member of the Avengers, where she then took on the role of the new Captain Marvel. Logan, on the other hand, would become Wolverine and an integral part of the X-Men, but not before suffering through experimentation by the Weapon Plus Program. Nonetheless, the heroes' relationship remained strong years later when they reconnected as members of The Avengers, in addition to when Captain Marvel was an associate of the X-Men.

Despite their separate paths, their history together is deep-rooted, so it is no surprise that they would seek each other when times get tough. In Avengers Annual #10 (after Captain Marvel escaped Limbo in Avengers #200) Carol Danvers makes her way back to Earth, only to have her powers and memory absorbed and stolen from her by the mutant Rogue. She is identified and later rescued by the X-men. This is when Carol crosses paths with Logan again, where she decides to stay with the X-Family for quite some time. Later in 1999, their friendship is captured in Wolverine Vol. 2 #133, Logan and Carol would meet again in a game of pool. He is there to talk with her after The Avengers removed Captain Marvel from their ranks. Knowing Logan is a true friend, Carol opens up to him because she knows he would never judge her. Fast forward more than 11 years later, and the two team up once again in 2010 with The New Avengers Vol. 2 Issue #1 as members of The New Avengers.

Now Logan and Carol will reignite their connection once more in the upcoming issue, Captain Marvel #17 set to release on April 15th, 2020.
