A new fan-made trailer pits Hugh Jackman's Wolverine against Black Panther tickling the imagination of Marvel fans. Fan trailers are not exactly new as they're a way for die-hards to flesh out scenarios in their heads about their favorite fictional characters. This new one, however, is a bit more interesting as it involves superheroes who possess two of Marvel's most iconic metals.
Jackman's unforgettable run as the scruffy, cigar-smoking Canadian may have come to an end after 17 years in this year's Logan, while Chadwick Boseman's gig as the Wakandan King may just getting started after debuting in last year's Captain America: Civil War, but that does not mean fans can't imagine the two going head to head. Users of two of the most popular metals in the Marvel comics universe, Adamantium and Vibranium, one fan has concocted a trailer about what it would look like if the two superheroes bearing the aforementioned metals go to battle.
The new fan-created trailer comes courtesy of Stryder HD, a YouTube content creator who specializes in making mash-up videos featuring some of the most popular movie characters. Clocking in at almost five minutes, the video cleverly and strategically mixes up footage from old X-Men films as well as earlier Wolverine standalones with clips from Civil War and the recently released trailer for Black Panther. The digital artist even pushed his computer graphic skills by incorporating Jackman in some of the shots from the Black Panther trailer, such as when Okoye is piloting a Wakandan aircraft through the secret nation's protective barrier. Check it out above.
It's unclear why Wolverine and Black Panther are butting heads in the trailer, how Wolverine even came in contact with T'Challa, or what brought him to Wakanda. But for the pure excitement of seeing the two together on screen, many fans may not care too much about the specifics. Unfortunately, on top of the fact that Jackman has already hung up his Adamantium claws with the critically acclaimed Logan, this melding of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Fox's X-Men universe is nothing but a pipe dream for now. Both franchises are doing well, with projects lined up for the next several years. Although Stan Lee's recent comments about Marvel Studios actively trying to get back all the rights to their characters are keeping people's hopes alive that just maybe, a crossover will happen sooner than later.
In the meantime, we can all enjoy the separate franchises as they are right now. After Thor: Ragnarok, Boseman's first standalone as the Wakandan King in Black Panther is next on the docket, while the highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War will be next in line. Over at Fox, New Mutants, Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool 2, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix are currently slated for 2018, while there's also a Wolverine spin-off following X-23/Laura in the aftermath of Logan.
