Warning: potential SPOILERS for Savage Avengers #2
Wolverine has returned to the Marvel Universe, with his unstoppable healing factor running at full power. And already, he may be forced to pass on that incredible mutant ability when an Avenger's life is put in danger. But which one?
It isn't the first time Wolverine's blood has been called upon to do the impossible, and even X-Men movie fans have seen his healing factor 'stolen' by other mutants. But with Logan anchoring the team of Marvel's deadliest heroes in Savage Avengers, the comic publisher has teased more than just a temporary fix. The Punisher, Elektra, Venom, Brother Voodoo, Conan--one of these heroes will be "changed forever" thanks to Logan's blood in their veins.

That tease comes from the official solicitation text for Savage Avengers #2, which claims that the issue will include a story beat in which "Logan donates blood, changing one Avenger forever." Based on the cover art and details released so far, the top candidates are limited to Punisher, Voodoo, and the latest Avenger addition, Conan the Barbarian. If the cover art is any indication--promising a bloody blade-off between Wolverine and Conan--then it will be the barbarian who winds up in need of an emergency blood transfusion. Only fair, since writer Gerry Duggan has explained that this fight will be based on a misunderstanding, not an actual rivalry.
The tease leaves the door open to give Frank Castle an upgrade, however, and pass on at least some of the X-Man's superhuman healing factor. That decision would guarantee some controversy. While actual science is close to making Wolverine's healing a reality, it would undeniably bump The Punisher into the 'superhuman' level of vigilante. And in a comic series embracing the roots of these brutal heroes (right down to Wolverine's classic costume), such a huge change to the status quo isn't what readers will expect.
