With the calendar close to turning to January 2017, Twentieth Century Fox is only a couple of months away from releasing the new X-Men film Logan. Set to be Hugh Jackman's final turn as Wolverine, the movie has the potential to be one of the most emotionally riveting installments in the franchise to date. Director James Mangold has fully embraced the project's R rating, injecting Logan with the tone of a gritty Western that's unlike anything the comic book movie genre has seen before. The first trailer was fittingly moody and somber, setting up the main conflict in which Logan has to protect the young X-23.

Besides the theatrical preview, the official Logan marketing campaign has consisted mainly of cryptic black and white images that offer teases of the various characters and locations appearing in the film. Now, none other than Jackman has broken away from that tradition, sharing a new color picture from the film on social media.

The actor took to Twitter to post the still, which features Logan standing next to a car on the side of the road during the night. You can check it out below:

While this image is different from the previous ones in terms of its use of color, one key similarity it shares with the others is that it doesn't reveal all that much regarding the Logan plot. Given that the film will be in theaters soon, that aspect is very much appreciated, especially since promotional materials for Hollywood tentpoles are prone to spoiling key details. Many fans would prefer to go in as fresh as possible, with any major revelations saved for the film itself. If anything, the secretive nature of these Logan photos has only increased the already high levels of anticipation, so Fox would be best served to continue what they are doing. Hopefully the upcoming second trailer will follow suit and leave more questions than answers.

It's impossible to tell due to the lighting and tinted windows if there is anyone in the car during this moment from Logan, but the teaser did seemingly show Wolverine, Professor X, and X-23 in multiple vehicles, so perhaps this is one of the ones they picked up along their journey. With so little know about Logan it's difficult to say for sure how this will fit into the narrative, but all will be revealed shortly. For now, this is just another tantalizing piece of the puzzle for fans to speculate about, which is all part of the fun when it comes to movies like Logan.
