Summary
- Wolf Pack season 2 has been canceled despite the popularity and narrative necessity of a second season.
- The show's lack of sustained enthusiasm makes it unlikely to be revived elsewhere.
- Story possibilities for season 2 included an increase in the werewolf population and exploring relationships between characters.
Given the success of Wolf Pack season 1, a second season makes perfect sense, yet Wolf Pack season 2 has been canceled. The drama series premiered on Paramount Plus in January 2023 and marked the return of Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar to the supernatural teen genre. Wolf Pack deals with a California wildfire that forces a terrifying creature to awaken, and this event spirals into further chaos as the town’s teenagers discover a secret that connects them all.
The eight-episode debut season garnered mixed reviews (via Rotten Tomatoes) but still proved to be popular. While Teen Wolf led the way for werewolf-based teen dramas, Wolf Pack's fresh spin on the werewolf genre made for a fun, binge-worthy watch. Based on data procured from Parrot Analytics, TheWrap reported that Wolf Pack was one of the “most in-demand new shows" during its first season. Given that the season 1 finale ends with an inconclusive cliffhanger, Wolf Pack season 2 was essential from a narrative viewpoint. But Wolf Pack season 2 isn't happening.
Wolf Pack Season 2 Is Canceled
Paramount+ Axes Wolf Pack After One Season
After a year of silence regarding the follow-up season, Paramount+ officially canceled Wolf Pack in January 2024. Though the writing was on the wall that the show would be axed after no word came throughout the entire strike-affected 2023, a return was still possible. Now, the streamer has pulled the plug on the project, and it isn't likely to be revived elsewhere. While some shows are given a second chance on a new network or streaming platform, Wolf Pack's lack of sustained enthusiasm means it isn't a hot commodity.
Wolf Pack Season 2 Cast Info
Who Could Have Returned?
Though nothing was confirmed, it can be assumed that many of the Wolf Pack cast members would have reprised their roles for season 2. Sarah Michelle Gellar would most likely have been back as Kristin Ramsey, and she would probably have been joined by most of the ensemble from season 1.
While it isn't going to happen at Paramount+, the returning cast would have included:
Actor |
Wolf Pack Role |
Armani Jackson |
Everett |
Bella Shepard |
Blake |
Tyler Lawrence Gray |
Harlan |
Chase Liefeld |
Baron |
Rodrigo Santoro |
Garrett Briggs |
Wolf Pack Season 2 Story
Story Possibilities Of The Canceled Second Season
One thing that can be presumed is that the population of werewolves was bound to increase in Wolf Pack season 2. The season 1 finale ended with a twist regarding Kristin’s werewolf origins and her family history. It turns out she is the biological mother of Harlan, Luna, and Baron. With Harlan and Luna finding out about their real lineage, it would have been interesting to see how season 2 explored their relationship with their foster father, Garrett.
Phoebe might not have been relevant to the plot, but her death was bound to still haunt her former best friend, Blake, in Wolf Pack season 2. Blake has had technology issues ever since she unlocked her mother's phone and discovered she was having an affair. This issue led to her ghosting Phoebe. Even though the former friends managed to bury their hatchet eventually, Phoebe’s death in a werewolf attack could have been avoided if Blake had warned her.
