Wizard Entertainment has postponed its Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con to June 2021. Wizard Entertainment has been throwing the “largest and longest” running shows and conventions known to the wizarding community. The organization hosts events across the country that were scheduled to happen earlier this year. Much like every other convention planned for 2020, these events have already been postponed to 2021 on the following dates: New Orleans, January 8-10; Philadelphia, Jan. 15-17; Portland, January 29-31; Cleveland, February 26-28; and St. Louis, March 12-14.

Now Chicago will join the cities listed in postponing its convention. The convention was initially scheduled for August 20-23 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. Instead, it will run from June 24-27, 2021. Wizarding Entertainment issued a statement proclaiming that it values the health and safety of its community members first and foremost. The convention will be adhering to the guidelines set by public health government officials and will reopen when they deem it safe. Those who have purchased a general admission or VIP ticket can exchange it for one of those future dates.

While Wizard World will not be hosting any in-person events any time soon, the organization plans to host online events in their place. Wizard Entertainment announced that it would be hosting free online Wizard World Virtual Experiences daily. Fans can reserve spots for live Q&A sessions with celebrities from their favorite wizarding franchises that are streamed on Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube. Upcoming guests include the casts of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the Harry Potter films, and Arrow. For those who are missing the Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con experience, these events give fans access to artists, authors, cosplayers, trivia, karaoke, and other elements of the Wizard World event experience online.
