When it comes to beloved classic films, The Wizard Of Oz tops the list for a lot of people. From the music to the cast to the burst of technicolor, the movie makes a lasting impression on everyone who sees it. Despite its large cast of characters, there aren't actually very many that the audience gets to know.

Of course, many of the actors play two parts - one in Dorothy Gale's home in Kansas, and another in her dreamland of Oz. That makes for a large number of personalities in the movie that fans can identify with - one for every sign in the zodiac.

Aries: The Cowardly Lion

The Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz

Though the Cowardly Lion thinks he needs some courage from the Wizard, he proves himself to be braver than he thinks. He protects Dorothy and helps the others on their quest to get to the Emerald City without the gift of courage he thinks he needs.

That's exactly why the Cowardly Lion is an Aries. Aries are known for their bravery and their willingness to jump into action. They also tend to be pretty stubborn, meaning it's going to take a lot of convincing to get them to do something they don't want to do.

Taurus: The Tin Man

Tin Man

The Tin Man believes that he's unfeeling because he's made of metal, but that couldn't be further from the truth. He clearly cares for the friends that come his way on the yellow brick road, and like the Cowardly Lion's Aries, he's also incredibly protective.

That's all right in line with a Taurus. Though Taurus has the reputation for being stubborn, they also tend to be the kind of people who serve and protect. They might not be as nurturing as a Virgo, but they are very much caregivers.

Gemini: The Wizard

The Wizard In Wizard Of Oz

The "Great And Powerful" Wizard of Oz as he's known to the inhabitants of the land over the rainbow is a man of many faces. He's plenty creative, but also incredibly sneaky. When he crash lands in his balloon, the residents of Oz believe he's a wizard, and he allows them to keep thinking just that so he can live a life of comfort.

The Wizard, with his ability to adapt to wild situations and think on his feet, certainly fits in with Geminis. The Gemini is the sign of the twins, the sign that is made for social situations. Geminis are charmers who can fit in anywhere, able to change their path at a moment's notice.

Cancer: Zeke

Zeke Is Made Fun Of For His Fear In Wizard Of Oz

Zeke is the Cowardly Lion's counterpart in Kansas. One of the farmhands that works for Dorothy's aunt and uncle, he's one of the first to show Dorothy attention when no one will listen to her story about Miss Gulch wanting to get rid of Toto.

Cancers can be prickly people because they are very sensitive to the plights of others. When Dorothy falls into the pigpen, Zeke rushes to her aid, but he quickly sours when the other farmhands make fun of him for being scared. He's friendly - but only until his feelings are hurt.

Leo: Glinda

Wiard of Oz Glinda

She's called the Good Witch Of The North, though there are plenty of fans who still think there's more to her than meets the eye. Glinda is seemingly the protector of the Munchkins, and the first person to give Dorothy advice when her house crash lands in Oz.

For all of Glinda's wisdom and help, she's also certainly someone who knows how to make an entrance. She draws attention to herself by traveling in a bubble, wearing a sparkly dress, and appearing at a moment's notice to steal the spotlight. The way she commands the attention of everyone on the yellow brick road is very much like a Leo, who is always the life of the party.

Virgo: Auntie Em

Auntie Em And Uncle Henry In Wizard Of Oz

Dorothy lives on a farm with her aunt and uncle, and that's really all the audience gets to know about her family. Her Auntie Em appears to be a little more strict than anyone else in the house, trying to get Dorothy to follow a set of rules that Dorothy finds unfair.

It's Auntie Em who is in the position to organize the household. It's also Auntie Em who acts as the primary caregiver, not just for Dorothy, but for everyone working on the farm. Virgos are natural nurturers, but their need for organization and firm plans can sometimes make them appear strict, making Auntie Em the perfect fit.

Libra: Hunk

Hunk Talks With Dorothy In Wizard Of Oz

In Kansas, the Scarecrow's counterpart is Hunk. While he's charming and personable, he also isn't afraid to tell Dorothy exactly what he thinks. He offers her a counterpart to her fear of Miss Gulch: stop walking by the woman's house on her way back to the farm.

Hunk is someone who is able to see other sides of a situation fairly easily, making Dorothy see that there is work to be done and perfectly reasonable paths to take, though she's too sad about Toto to realize it. His charm and tendency to see all angles of a situation is very much like the scales of the zodiac, Libra.

Scorpio: The Wicked Witch

The Wicked Witch Of The West intimidates Dorothy in The Wizard Of Oz

When examining zodiac signs, the Scorpios often end up cast in the villain roles. It's not their fault that their sign lends so well to villainy in the movies. Scorpios tend to be fiercely independent, determined, and aggressively pursue their goals.

Scorpios are the people who enjoy solving mysteries. Like a dog with a bone, they never let go of a lead. That can also make them the kind of person to hold a grudge or take drastic measures to get what they want. The Wicked Witch is ready to sacrifice anything and everything just to get the ruby slippers that she believes Dorothy stole. She's really just trying to get what she thinks is rightfully hers.

Sagittarius: Scarecrow

Scarecrow Oz

His brain might be made of straw, but he certainly loves to fill it with knowledge. The Scarecrow is all about learning new things. He wants so badly to have a brain that he's willing to leave the field where he was made and journey across Oz with a girl he's never met.

That willingness to undertake a long journey, full of adventure is just a small part of the Sagittarius personality. They typically love to travel, tell stories, and philosophize. They're often termed the scholars of the zodiac as a result.

Capricorn: Almira Gulch

Almira Gulch In Wizard Of Oz

Much like the aggressive Scorpio, the ambitious Capricorn is also easily typecast in the role of the villain in the zodiac. Capricorns are very strict when it comes to wanting things their way. They tend to be hard workers with lofty ambitions.

While we don't see much of Miss Gulch, her refusal to bend and her connection to the town sheriff would hint at the Capricorn aspects of her personality. She must have been furious when she didn't get her way because Toto escaped from her bicycle's basket.

Aquarius: Professor Marvel

Professor Marvel And Dorothy In Wizard Of Oz.

Professor Marvel is the real-world counterpart of the Wizard. While he's got just as many tricks up his sleeves, in the world of farms and gray landscapes, he certainly stands out, which is just how an Aquarius likes things.

Aquarius tends to choose the unconventional path in life. They like to do things their way, like traveling across farmland instead of settling down themselves. While his line of work would indicate he would con Dorothy out of a few dollars, instead, he opts to figure out what she's running from and turn her direction pack home, making him have the humanitarian side of an Aquarius as well.

Pisces: Dorothy

Dorothy Gale Wizard of Oz

Pisces tend to be one of the most sensitive of the zodiac. That doesn't mean they're going to cry at the drop of a hat, but it does mean they're in touch with their emotions. Pisces also tend to be dreamers, making the sign a perfect fit for Dorothy.

In this version of the story of Oz, after all, it's all in her head. Dorothy's journey over the rainbow represents what she has back at home. Her dream just happens to be more realistic than most.
