The Tom Clancy's Without Remorse trailer, for the film starring Michael B. Jordan, has been released. The film is set to hit Amazon Prime April 30 after the streamer acquired the rights to the film from Paramount. Without Remorse is part of the Jack Ryan universe, one of author Clancy's most popular and widely known properties. Amazon currently airs the Jack Ryan television series starring John Krasinski, with a third season currently in development.

Without Remorse will follow Jordan's John Kelly AKA John Clark, one of Clancy's most popular characters. The film will serve as an origin story of the iconic character as the US Navy SEAL uncovers a vast international conspiracy after his pregnant wife is murdered by Russian soldiers. Jamie Bell stars alongside Jordan as Robert Ritter, a shady CIA operative who helps John Clark along the way. Jodie Turner-Smith also stars as a fellow Navy SEAL who gets caught up in John Clark's quest for vengeance. Colman Domingo, Luke Mitchell, Brett Gelman, and Guy Pearce are also set to star.

The Without Remorse trailer begins with the inciting event, as John Kelly's home is invaded by the Russian soldiers and his wife is murdered. Turner-Smith's Karen Greer warns that they better hope John didn't survive, for he is the most dangerous man they've ever had in the field. Once the scene is set, we get brief clips of John Kelly's quest for vengeance, including him setting a car on fire before hopping in the backseat to ask an unnamed man for information about his wife's killers. Jordan has already proven himself as a bona-fide action star as Killmonger in Black Panther and his role in found-footage superhero film Chronicle. Without Remorse is a different kind of actioner for the star with its grounded, political plot, but if the trailer is any indication, Jordan will be more than able to handle the role. The actor has also proven himself to be able to handle serious roles as well. Just Mercy saw Jordan play civil rights lawyer Bryan Stevenson opposite Jamie Foxx and fellow MCU star Brie Larson.

Without Remorse will bring Jordan into a different kind of cinematic universe this time around. The film has been in development hell since the mid-90s and attempts to get the film off the ground have proven difficult. Now that the film is finally being released, it leaves open the door to connecting Jordan’s role with the Tom Clancy universe that Amazon seems to be building with their Krasinski-led Jack Ryan series. While Paramount clearly missed an opportunity to put Without Remorse on their fledgling streaming service Paramount+, launching March 4, the film seems right at home in Amazon’s library.
