The world of The Witcher might be beautiful but it's not an easy place to live in. Monsters roam the forests and villages, wars break out, and mages aren't afraid to solve their differences by fighting. However, even in a world filled with tragedy and loss, heartwarming moments still happen.
They usually come forward when the characters get together and grow close to each other. Friendships and romances are just as important in the world of The Witcher as they are in the real world. From the Netflix TV show to the games to the book series by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher has a lot of moments that will warm fans' hearts.
Emhyr Lets Geralt And Yennefer Live
To say that Emhyr var Emreis, Ciri's biological father and the emperor of Nilfgaard, isn't a pleasant guy would be an understatement. In the books, Emhyr originally plans to marry his own daughter and have a child with her. He also wants to kill Geralt and Yennefer but is "gracious" enough to let them kill themselves instead. However, when he sees his daughter cry for her loved ones, Emhyr changes his mind and lets all of them be. It's a rare moment of compassion for someone so typically cruel.
Geralt Meets Ciri In Brokilon
Unfortunately, this story didn't appear in the Netflix series even though it plays a prominent part in the books. It's also the first time Geralt and Ciri ever meet — before Geralt even knows that she's a princess. Geralt protects little Ciri from harm even though she can be quite rude to him. In the process, they form a close bond that evolves even more.
Geralt's And Renfri's Moment Of Peace
The first episode of the Netflix show sees Geralt meet, get to know, and eventually fight and kill Renfri, the supposedly cursed princess. But before they cross swords and Renfri dies, there is a rare moment of understanding between them in the forest. Unlike the rest of the villagers, Renfri doesn't treat Geralt like he's a freak and they spend the night together. This led to the presumption of some fans that Geralt and Renfri could, in fact, be a good couple had things turned out differently.
Geralt And Ciri Find Each Other...
This scene is even more touching in the books since it has more build-up. Plus, Ciri and Geralt already know each other in the books by the time they reunite, purely by accident — or by destiny, as they would no doubt say.
However, it's still a satisfying moment in the TV show as well since it feels like two pieces clicked together and now something better is about to come.
... And Reunite In The Witcher 3
Geralt and Ciri have a complicated path. Sometimes they go their separate ways but reunite weeks, months, or even years later. This happens in The Witcher 3 as well. Geralt fears that Ciri is dead but when he finally finds her and discovers that's not the case, the two just share a hug, happy that they are together again. It's a heartwarming moment that needs no words.
Geralt Tells Yennefer He Still Loves Her
Speaking of The Witcher 3, Geralt can also choose between romancing Yennefer or Triss in the game. If he doesn't do either, he'll end up alone (this also happens if he tries to romance both women). After Geralt and Yennefer break the djinn's spell, Yennefer confesses that nothing has changed for her. Geralt then has the opportunity to tell her he loves her too and they share a kiss. It takes the couple a long time to get to this point so it's even more satisfying when they finally do.
Geralt Kisses Triss In The Maze
Of course, not all fans like Geralt and Yennefer, even though they're the ultimate couple in both the books and Netflix show. The games, on the other hand, give a lot of room for a romance between Geralt and Triss.
It can cultivate in the third game where Geralt has the option of choosing Triss instead of Yennefer. His declaration of love is also impressive but by far one of the most touching moments is when he and Triss share a kiss in a maze while fireworks are going off in the sky.
Ciri Comes Back To Kaer Morhen
A similar scene might appear in the second season of the show but in this case, it comes from the games once again. Once Geralt finds Ciri, they teleport back to Kaer Morhen, their home. Once there, Ciri is overjoyed to reunite with her uncle Vesemir and Yennefer, who's like a mother to Ciri. Everyone's happy for a moment and it's a much-needed scene before the Wild Hunt comes knocking and a battle erupts.
Yennefer And Geralt Get Married
It's unclear whether this storyline will ever make it into the show. Either way, it's a feel-good moment that was a long time coming for Geralt and Yennefer. In one of the Witcher stories by Andrzej Sapkowski, Geralt and Yennefer actually get married. It's not an entirely calm day but it's happy nonetheless as all their closest friends and loved ones are present. Some readers believed the wedding was all a dream but that's open to interpretation.
Geralt Lives Happily Ever After
Finally, another happily ever after is available in the DLC Blood and Wine. Once the main story is complete, Geralt return to his home — he finally has a home of his own — and gets a visit either from his partner, Yennefer or Triss, Ciri, or his good friend Dandelion. After everything he's been through, Geralt finally gets to lead a more peaceful life and the fans are happy for him.
