Ahead of season 2 launching on Netflix, Freya Allan reveals she has already seen the scripts for The Witcher season 3, calling them exciting. Allan reprises her role of Ciri alongside Henry Cavill and Anya Chalotra in the fantasy series. The Witcher season 2 will launch on the streaming service on December 17.

The Witcher season 1 followed Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), Yennefer of Vengerberg (Chalotra), and Princess Cirilia "Ciri" of Cintra, exploring their lives across nearly five decades before they ultimately cross paths in the season finale. With Geralt and Ciri finally uniting, as prophesized earlier on in season 1, it is up to Geralt to protect the young Princess and train her to defend herself from threats both human and monster. All the while, Yennefer remains missing following the Battle of Sodden Hill, having disappeared after casting a powerful spell. Even before season 2 aired, Netflix quickly announced The Witcher season 3, with one of the series' stars revealing that she had a glimpse of what was yet to come.

Speaking to RadioTimes alongside co-star Joey Batey ahead of season 2, Allan reveals she has had a glimpse of the season 3 scripts. She remained careful to avoid any possible spoilers, stating that while she was unaware when it might air, it would not be too far into the future. Allan also shares her thoughts on what she read, calling the scripts exciting and believing the season will be great. Check out Allan's full quote below:

I might have actually seen some scripts, you know? Just putting it out there. I don’t know exactly [when it’ll be], but it will be not too long away. It’s very exciting. I think it’s going to be a great season.

Ciri and Geralt together in a courtyard in The Witcher

Netflix is investing heavily into The Witcher franchise, which is based on Andrzej Sapkowski's novels. Beyond showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich's seven-season plan for the show, which Cavill remains committed to, the streaming service has greenlit various other projects set within the world of The Witcher. A live-action prequel series titled The Witcher: Blood Origin started filming in the UK in August, promising to explore the origins of the first Witcher, as well as Elven civilization. Multiple animated projects were also announced, starting with the film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, which will be followed by a second animated feature and a series aimed at a family audience.

With The Witcher season 3 being announced so soon, even before season 2 airs, alongside multiple varied projects, it is clear that Netflix is invested in Hissrich's long-term vision. Allan's comments on seeing the upcoming plans are also a promising sign, as it shows that the showrunner has mapped out clear ideas for the story of Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer. With Allan also suggesting that production could happen soon, fans of the fantasy series certainly won't be short of The Witcher content anytime soon.
