After an action-packed season two, four new performers have joined the cast for The Witcher season 3. Inspired by the books from Andrzej Sapkowski and the video games that achieved global success, The Witcher follows Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), a stone-faced monster slayer fated to fight alongside Princess Cirilla of Cintra (Freya Allan) and Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra). Netflix has earned praise for the addition of this adventurous story, as The Witcher became one of Netflix's most-viewed TV series ever and audiences have become captivated by Geralt's journey.

Production has already begun on The Witcher season 3, and audiences are hopeful that Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri will face destiny hand in hand rather than continuing to divide themselves. After following the individual timelines of each character in season 1, viewers applauded how Geralt and Ciri stayed together for most of season 2, but Yennefer was still cast aside. She was not completely isolated, though, sharing the screen with fan favorites like Jaskier (Joey Batey) and Fringilla (Mimi Ndiweni). As the climax of season 2 approached, the three were finally brought together by an interdimensional collision known as The Conjunction. As Yennefer and Geralt now unite to train Ciri, viewers are keeping their fingers crossed for a Witcher season 3 that aligns with Sapkowski's original story and allows the characters to explore their world together.

That world will continue to expand, though, as the official Netflix has announced exciting new casting for The Witcher season 3. Robbie Amell (Upload), Meng'er Zhang (Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings), Hugh Skinner (Fleabag), and Christelle Elwin (Half Bad) are the newest additions to the fantasy world, giving us some insight into which characters will make an appearance. Although most details will likely be kept quiet, Netflix is giving fans a small preview by announcing who each actor will portray, from fierce fighters to Redanian royalty and more. Looking to the novels for context, fans have been able to decipher some insight about where Netflix is taking The Witcher season 3. Amell will join forces with Nilfgaardians as one of their warriors, opposing Skinner, whose character rules as a prince over Redania. Zhang will adopt the role of Milva, an impressive archer and survivalist who crosses paths with Geralt and provides some invaluable information. Elwin will introduce Mistle to the series, a teenage misfit who develops an emotional, complex relationship with Ciri. While the literary journeys of these four characters give an idea of how The Witcher season 3 might unfold, Netflix could veer off their written paths and use these characters in unexpected ways.

With no release date set yet, it is uncertain when audiences will be given a full first look at season 3. Although Netflix has earned impressive numbers and critical approval for The Witcher, there was a noticeable drop in fan approval for season 2 that the creative team now has to amend. With excellent world-building and impressive talent on board, The Witcher could continue down the Game of Thrones path and become a decade-long franchise with astounding accolades. However, if the series moves too far from the plot that Sapkowski originally laid out, they risk the same fate the HBO series had with a substantial drop in satisfaction from the audience. Should Netflix keep the four newest characters true to their novel counterparts, there is hope that fans will regain the love that was once felt for the fantasy drama.
