New set photos from The Witcher season 2 tease the introduction of the Wild Hunt. Netflix turned the popular book series and video game franchise into a live-action series in 2019. Henry Cavill leads the fantasy monster-hunting world as Geralt of Rivia, and The Witcher proved to be fairly popular for the streaming service. Another season is in the works, in addition to some spinoffs, and fans are eager to see what elements from the source material The Witcher season 2 includes.

A key part of The Witcher season 2's story is expected to be the bond between Geralt and Ciri (Freya Allen), the princess of Cintra who is linked to Geralt by the Law of Surprise. The two characters found each other at the end of season 1 and there are signs that they'll head to Kaer Morhen in season two. The famous location in The Witcher lore will be accompanied by the introduction of characters like Eskel (Basil Eidenbenz) and Lambert (Paul Bullion). Now, it appears that The Witcher season 2 will utilize another important element with the debut of the Wild Hunt.

The Wild Hunt are featured prominently in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and are also known as the Wraiths of Mörhogg or Red Riders. They were originally believed to be wraiths on undead horses that were a sign of war. However, the Wild Hunt are actually Aen Elle elves led by Eredin Bréacc Glas and are on a mission to acquire slaves from other worlds to serve the elves. Geralt was a member of the group for a time, and their introduction in The Witcher season 2 could shed more light on Geralt and Ciri's story.

Ciri is one of the Wild Hunt's main targets in The Witcher lore. They are interested in her because of her Elder Blood abilities and their pursuit leads Geralt and Yennefer to try and protect her. With The Witcher season 2 surely planning to explore more of Ciri's powers, she could become a target of the Wild Hunt's already. This could help the series set up a lot of future storylines for Ciri, the Wild Hunt, Geralt, and much more. Of course, there's also the chance that the Wild Hunt will have a small role in The Witcher season 2 that sets them up to be a bigger deal in the franchise's future.
